I would say a little less given stanley was a contracted KPF, either way that's the ballpark. The ballpark is not a first and a second and he's not getting paid 800k a year
15-25 with swaps is about right, Stanley went for 21 and 4th coming back.

Contracts have value but he's not a free agent so a trade would be required and I doubt he'd last in the PSD

Whilst I don't think he is worth it, if there are a couple of clubs genuinely interested (and clearly SOS now at the Saints is) then there is going to be a bidding war and you know how that will play out.
Ah yes, the old bidding war. Let me know how negotiations between a player and his potential new clubs turns into an open auction between clubs offering picks to the current club. Have yet to see it play out

IF he leaves it’s likely something roughly like:
TDK + Future 4th Rounder
for
1st Rounder (pick in the teens) + Future 2nd/3rd Rounder
This is the reason I don’t want Geelong involved. The above is way too much to give up for TDK, but it could be his value. Might need to pay him 600k for 4 years too.

I’m not doubting he has potential, but at the probable cost, I hope he either realises it, or doesn’t, at another club.

I have pretty good faith that if a silly offer is made we won't get involved. Walked away from plenty over the years - Hopper, Stringer etc.

Hate to tell you mate, he'll be at the Cats next year.
I posted earlier in this thread, consider it done

Quite possible but if so he'll be on a fraction of the wage being spruiked.

Geelong paid well over our usual pay rate for Bowes because he got us pick 7. That was strongly rumoured to be $550k for 4 years.

TDK will be the same age and has shown similar amounts to Bowes. No way he's on more than $450k if we have to trade for him.

Fair enough. No biggie if he leaves at the end of the year then?

Personally I don’t think it really is. He just isn’t that good. He is a 24 year old who hasn’t even been close to putting a full season together.

It will give Carlton salary cap relief and they will get a good pick for him.

You’re going to be disappointed if you think you’re signing TDK for an average AFL wage.

Jack Martin might actually not be a bad comparison.
Talented but not quite put it together.

Martin had played ~100 games by the time of the trade and played much better footy in general than TDK but in a less valuable position.

3 million dollar contract.
Carlton offered 2 future picks projected ~30 and ~50.

TDK is most likely off to St Kilda from what I have heard. He isn't actually keen on reuniting with his brother at Geelong.

I would be happy if that were the case because theres other rucks id rather we target but a lot depends on where he wants to play. If hes prepared to be a permanent fwd (which hes never been) then sure but he will never be 1st ruck with marshall there. If you assume he wants to stay in vic and go to a finals club and be 1st ruck geelong is the most likely landing spot for him (what other club can realistically fill that criteria and he gets the 1st ruck spot) because our rucks are all 33 or 19 and injured and we have the cap room. Id say sydney would be likely IF he was happy to leave melbourne.

Average afl wage is 350k and no hes going nowhere for that. But we wouldnt offer him 8-900k either. He will likely get offered 550-600 from us which is about the salary band most if our trade ins get offered. If he wants more money than that he will go somewhere else. Honestly we will have the cap space to offer him up to 1mil if we wanted but thats never been how we do our pay structure.

Id agree with that as a trade price too probably a bit more or less than either club wants which means its about fair.

TDK missed round 6 with the flu/soreness and was given a game in the VFL to see how he recovered from that rather than being sent straight back into the senior side. Unfortunately he suffered concussion in the VFL in round 7 so he will miss round 8 also.

If TDK was managed he would have played Round 7. Everyone knows he was dropped.

Bsed on first half VFL form he was zero chance of being put back into the senior side in Round 8.

He’s in the best 22 when fit.

No he is not. Not even close. Statistically TDK is a liabiltiy in the ruck.

Marc Pittonet is number 1 in the AFL this year for hitouts to advantage %. The question is not is he better than Pittonet.

Yes it is. Pittonet and TDK are competing for the same spot. Pittonet is signifcantly more impactful.

It’s can we play two rucks.

No, we can't. Did not work in 2022. Has not worked so far in 2023.

Neither Pittonet or TDK have shown any versatility beyond being tap ruckmen.

You can't play both as its a waste of a bench rotation.

TDK should be playing as the third tall forward in place of Silvagni but that’s on coaching selection.

Until TDK showcases some forward craft in the reserves he does not deserve a chance at AFL level. His first half in the VFL has a forward before concussion was poor.

Lewis Young's emergence as a decent backup option will make it significantly harder for TDK to get picked.

Spot on with all of your points

What do you see his trade value being?

The average afl wage is currently 406k at latest numbers, climbing yearly.

From Geelong's point of view, I think we need to back Conway in as our long term ruck. So picking up a 24 year old TDK (who would ideally be a 7-8 year prospect if he's remotely any good for us) doesn't seem to do much except stymie Conway's development.

I'd much rather us go for a mature 'second ruck' from another club that we could probably pick up cheap as chips, just to hold the fort for a year or two until Conway is completely ready.

The Saints would be crazy.

Marshall, King, Caminiti and Heath along with Jack Hayes if he get’s fit again and young Keeler to develop with Van Es at the other end

Probably find more clubs show interest now they know his asking price won’t be through the roof and you won’t have to give up a heap of trade value to get him.
For someone who supposedly doesn't rate TDK, you're fishing around this thread a lot.

Saints & Cats fans are dominating this thread in their quest to say they are on interested in TDK.
These lines gets thrown up every year on these threads.

We see club supporters over rate players year in year out and when opposition supporters give their honest assessment it gets turned into “so why are you here if you don’t rate him”

Just because we don’t think a player is worth 800k and two first round selections does not mean we think he’s a complete spud. There is potential there for the right price, but he’s never going to be Max Gawn.

TDK has clearly been overrated by a lot of Blues fans but I’m also starting to see a lot of Carlton fans in agreement with opposition fans views.

No one is overrating TDK. Some of us are just bemused as to how a player who may receive offers of up to 800k would be worth a mid-late second rounder.

On the other hand, some suggest he is only worth 400k a season and is incredibly overrated but we all want him because he’ll be our ruck for the next 8 years.

His value sits somewhere between 15-30. Most Carlton supporters would agree and so would most reasonable oppo supporters.

As for the 800k, I think we all know that just won't happen.

Tbh maybe we see TDK as a longer term 2nd ruck that offers versatility to pair with Conway, who is very much an old-school number 1 ruck (should he fulfil his potential)?
