this guy is nowhere near the hype he is getting but he aint no bum. he remind me of rhys stanley whcih we made something out of. I dont mind taking TDK but not coughin up a kings ransom.

Didn’t he receive the concussion while playing VFL? If so that doesn’t make a lot of sense.

I’ve seen plenty of different excuses as to why he was dropped now. I think form was the issue.
Yes he did, he was coming back from a strain or flu or something from memory and played low minutes. He then got concussed, had his 12 days off and returned to VFL afterwards because of what was mentioned above. Atleast that's what the rumour mill told us.

Either way, I don't care if he leaves. Seems to have checked out already and reckon we'd be much better off with the draft picks. Only thing is what the market values him at, if multiple clubs are fighting for his signature and throwing good coin at him it pushed his value up. Said from the start of the year I think he's worth about pick 25 and I haven't seen anything this year to change my mind on that.

The club is confident they have a long term player on their hands.

We won't go close to matching what Sydney is offering. I trust your intel, but McLure is pretty spot on with Carlton goss, and he doesn't even mention us in this article. He does however mention an 8 year 6.4+ MIL contract for TDM from Sydney - which is positively psychotic.

Only difference is clubs are offering 6.4mill/8 years

Ollie didnt get anywhere near that offered to him
Also Ollie was an absolute sook and made just about every threat a player can to force his way to Geelong and Geelong only. TDK seems open to multiple offers.

if anyone is stupid enough to offer de koning 850k / 8 years i will be amazed
I'd just about throw a party as it would help us and kill another club. Most overhyped player I've seen in some time.

Reckon he could be the type to have a huge game in a final now and then but doubt he'll ever be a consistent beast like Gawn is.

I am starting to think some people have TDK confused with his brother.

On what planet is this guy worth anything like the contract or draft capital that is being spoken about?
Last time I looked Nick Bryan was doing better statistically in the VFL than Tom, while being several years younger. That was a month or so back. So, I agree, where is the evidence that he's worth what Carlton fans think he is? Or, if true, that Sydney's offering? Has me baffled.

Then again, if someone wants to offer Bryan millions and us a top 10 pick, I won't be complaining!

I was talking about Conway in that post.

My understanding is that Tom has verbally agreed to come to Geelong but if there's any truth to that monetary figure offered by Sydney he has a decision to make.

If that number is true, they need to have COLA taken off them again.

Or given back to them, so it can be taken off them again.

I thought Tom just picks a team and Carlton bend over backwards for them even if they don't have a pick Carlton deems fair?
LOL - let's see if that actually happens.

I think Fanboi Sam is trying to help his club through the media, and is just acting as a mouthpiece for Carlton and TDKs agent.

Let's wait til we hear something similar from a Sydney source as well.

Frankly, if Sydney offer that they should be removed from the league.

Ahh gotcha, makes more sense now.

Feels very much the same as Hopper, tbh. Probs wants to come to us more, but the monetary offers on the table are far more at another club. Can't blame him if he does tbh. Be hard to turn that down given he hasn't shown all that much thus far.

Would probably make him a worse player with all that monetary pressure and expectation to deliver on his shoulders, IMO.

Buddy is going to retire and they got plenty of cap room to spare, they can easily afford both Himmelberg and TDK and I think they will get one of them

Their first round pick should seal the deal from a Carlton perspective :D

“Should seal the deal”???

You’ll be laughing all the way to the bank if you get a mid first for him…

Offers of up to 800,000 a year for 6/7/8 years.

But we are supposed to roll over and accept a mid second rounder.

Oppo supporters may not rate this guy but clearly your clubs do. Will be a first rounder easy if those rumours are even close to being true.
But than IF... IF he picks Geelong for example 4 years on 600 g a year, the same Carlton are offering him... Than what is he worth then?

Only on the basis of what Sydney is offering. If we offer the same or less than you, than the Future 2nd being touted is about right.

One of those rare examples where salary terms may actually dictate the pick you get.

Stephen Silvagni publicly stated on radio after his time at Carlton that Geelong had tried at TDK multiple times before, offering up their first-round pick and change. During that time you were finishing in the top 4 so pick would have been about 15-20.

Geelong clearly rate him, as do Sydney and StK. A future 2nd would - Unless Geelong plummit to the bottom 4 - be robbery and completely useless to us.
Pick between 15-30 this season in a strong draft is bang on imo.

So 2 years for example Geelong try chasing him, they would of been relying and paying for the term of Potential for a first round...
2 years later and his 6th season for a guy stats, hasn't got any better, if anything gone backwards. Does that mean we should still pay a 1st round pick?? Ahhh I don't think so.. Screenshot_20230608_192900_AFL.jpg

U Geelong muppets are a thick bunch. Multiple clubs chasing him with big offers, teams have made previous attempts of prying him loose with first rounders yet the club has told them to bugger off, Geelong who are in no mans land in terms of the PSD threats etc. Yet you lot reckon you're going to offer a future 2nd round pick and expect us to just lube up and take it. Sounds like a pipe dream.

I don't care if anyone rates TDK or not, I reckon he's a numpty on field and off it, so I couldn't care less if he walked for nothing at all. But that's how markets work, supply and demand. Theres one TDK, theres multiple clubs willing to throw $$ at him for his signature, that means his price goes up. As mentioned in the article:

“Robbie D’Orazio is De Koning’s manager and at Connors Sports – if their player wants to go, they first make sure they can get a deal done,” he added.

“So you don’t end up with a situation like when Joe Daniher wanted to go to Sydney and the deal doesn’t get done.

“If De Koning says ‘Robbie, I want to go to Sydney’, he’ll go ‘okay, how does Sydney get the deal done’.

Just because he wants to go for a surf doesn't mean **** all if we say we will not be accepting an offer close to what you're offering

You Carlton " Muppet " By reports Geelong in offering the same money as Carlton are you Muppet... which is 600g... He may choose Geelong over big money from Sydney.... So 600 g isn't big money , and you can tell by his stats his not worth the 800 plus what other clubs are willing to pay... so how tell me how is he worth a 1st round, if we're only willing to pay as much as Carlton is? Muppet

Because we still rate him and he's not a free agent muppet. Geelong have no levers to pull this year around unlike with Henry. We stink so PSD is out of the question. National draft, ur first pick is way too high for him and you've got peanuts after that. You also can't pull your usual 'homesick' crap either given he's not from Geelong.

If other teams are willing to give us a top pick around 15 for him that's what we'd be expecting of Geelong. Not a pick in 2024 that's every chance to be in the late 30s or early 40s.

Gee I can't wait till Esava ask for a trade as we will get 2 x 1st round picks as his worth every bit of that
