Firstly, I’m pretty sure the guy you are quoting isn’t Geelongs list manger.

Secondly, just because a club is interested in a player does not mean they automatically think he’s worth selling the farm for.

Carlton had the chance to get a good deal for him when he was contracted and could still use the “potential” line.

He’s now uncontracted, 24 years old and still behind an average ruck in Pittonet. Once you hit that age you can’t keep banging on about potential, you need to actually start performing.

They should be able to find a way of keeping all of their picks next season but at worse give up a future second. If Flanders leaves they’ll get the points easily.

Even now you would do it only if your hand was forced, christ were playing with lewis young in the ruck who is a liability for the 2nd week in a row anything we got for tdk would have to be spent on a replacement

Yeh I agree, unless TDK has a huge final 6 weeks any side giving up a first rounder would be mad.

Geelong would be mad to split at top ten pick just to get DeKoning. They will be able to find another way to get him while keeping their first.

An early 2nd should be enough for him, that shouldn’t be too hard to come by.

Agreed it will be a pick in the 20s (or equivalent) for tdk which we will either get by trading sav or via other trades.

Im pretty sure all three clubs can do those deals separately but yes it could be linked.
It might be as simple as port get a mid 2nd for georgiades (or a similar player) forward that to us for sav and we forward that pick and maybe a later pick to carlton for tdk.
