I’ll take that as an acknowledgment that players being unavailable to all clubs affects the value of draft picks.
I can't describe how stipud you are in words.

considering you’re too stupid to realise that making players unavailable to sides at their pick affects the value of that draft pick, I’m not at all surprised you can’t describe how stipud I am.
If you still don't get it I won't help you.

Would pick 30 hold the same value in a draft where 15 of the top 30 talents are tied to other clubs as it would in a draft where no players were tied to other clubs?

Answer is no everyday of the week and twice on Sundays.

Not saying he is, certainly worth more than pick 40 and 65 though.
Not sure about your maths with a future 2nd being pick 40. Yes, we may see a few academy and father sons go early but you'll also see quite a few picks before 40 bundled up to use on those selections which will even it out.

The thing is though, future picks do seem to hold less value than current ones. I think an early 20's pick is about his value, I'm sure it won't be hard to work our a deal.

He said Ports future 2nd which is very unlikely to be any lower than probably 32 and then with how things stand, the likelihood is there will be 10-15 academy and FS picks before that pushing it out further down the order.

And I agree, somewhere around 20-25 seems spot on to me. 15 would be great for us, 30 a good bargain for a buying team and slightly unders for us imo.

Pick in the 40s though is absolute junk for a player of TDK's raw and unrefined talents.

An early 20s pick can nab you an actual AFL standard player.

TDK is a VFL level talent.

Would also consider SDK in a straight swap if the Cats are unwilling to trade their first and Holmes (not sure why, is a great deal for them)

why would that Cats, a premiership fancy, trade for one of their most promising guys for a similarly aged tall who can't get a game in a bottom 8 side?

Can we just get back to having a modicum of seriousness in this thread?

Getting tiresome reading the trolling/sh*tfights about nothing.

Holmes, Ratugolea and a 1st for TDK and a 3rd is trolling of the highest order, and not in the realms of reality. Seriously people, just get a grip, lol.

His value, as sane people have said, is 15-25ish, similar to Rhys Stanley was. Might be less, almost certainly won't be more.

Exactly. The other poster is just a troll and a sh*tposter who likes to get under people's skin.

Our current 1st is Pick 10...that is way overs for TDK on its own...let alone throwing Holmes and Ratugolea in on top for a Future 3rd.

Sometimes I wish people could just stop the 'oneupsmanship' in these trade threads...alas...it never seems to happen and we end up with trolls everywhere.

To be fair, Carltons first choice ruck is out injured and TDK has been left out earlier in the year.

But, he has also mostly played in tandem with Pittonett, but clearly not the first choice as ruck.
But to be more fair, that wasn’t part of the discussion

You could have Pick 70...if 60 players were never available to you in the open draft for you to pick up, then you have Pick 10 of the available players.

The easier way to imagine it, is if there was no NGA/FS/Northern Academy players in the National draft at all... - the value wouldn't change of your draft pick...as all the clubs would have 'taken' the players off the board prior to the draft.

Yeah clubs can 'bid' but if a club wants their player, they get their player - so they never really were available to anyone else in the first place. I think this is what Jhye Clark 13 is trying to explain.

The compromised 2020 draft for example would have looked like this for the first two rounds:

Removed:

JUH
Braeden Campbell
Lachie Jones
Reef McInnes
Blake Coleman
Errol Gulden
Connor Downie
Josh Eyre
Samson Ryan

Open Draft:

1: Thilthorpe (2)
2: W. Phillips (3)
3. L. McDonald (4)
4. DGB (6)
5. E. Hollands (7)
6. N. Cox (8)
7. Perkins (9)
8. Z. Reid (10)
9. Pedlar (11)
10. Bruhn (12)
11. T. Powell (13)
12. Chapman (14)
13. Stone (15)
14. O. Henry (17)
15. Angwin (18)
16. F. Macrae (19)
17. Holmes (20)
18. Bowey (21)
19. Laurie (22)
20. B. Cook (25)
21. McLeod-Allison (26)
22. O'Driscoll (27)
23. S. Berry (28)
24. S. Mitchell (29)
25. Poulter (30)
26. McMahon (31)
27. S. Neale (33)
28. Rosman (34)
29. Lazzaro (36)
30. C. Durdin (37)
31. Rowe (38)
32. Carroll (41)
33. Spicer (42)

Original draft positions denoted in brackets.

It doesn't lessen the value of the draft pick, if those players were never available to begin with. Now of course rules have changed for NGA, but Northern Academies are still the biggest culprits, and they're not available to anyone.

Only exception to this is when clubs choose not to match - which is exceedingly rare, and only seems to happen maybe once have every few drafts, and often later in the draft - as was the case with Brisbane and Samson Ryan.
