Re: Thomas German

Wrapped with this pick.
Yet another rookie from St. Bernards who at stages looked like he was going to make it to an AFL club. Glad he made it to the bombers after they last year passed up on Arrowsmith as a rookie.
Very happy.

Lets hope he is better than Arrowsmith.

Re: Thomas German

Not Peter's son.....nephew. This bloke is as tough as nails. We've got ourselves a beauty. Friends involved at Calder believe he may be a Sam Mitchell type (strong at stoppages, great footy brain). Super committed and has been tearing it up with Bendigo on the track. Don't be suprised if this bloke makes a massive impact very quickly!

He'd been training with Bendigo before the draft? Why not Essendon?

It's all academic now, I suppose. Looking forward to seeing this guy go at it. We needed some hardnuts. Fingers crossed German and/or Klemke can give us some grunt.

One of my favourites in the TAC- hard at it who has got a natural AFL position of inside mid. Trained at Bendigo for the last couple of weeks and undefeated in timetrials. A few clubs apparently got a sniff of that so Essendon took him earlier than originally planned. Will be a fan favourite at Bendigo this year because of his hardness and effort. Interestingly was opposed to Cotchin and then Zaharakis in 2007 TAC final at different stages. Breaking even with Cotchin and a bit too strong for Zaharakis. I think if he has a decent run with his hamstring he could be a Nathan Foley like player for us.

Thanks for the foj1, always enjoy your input. Sounds like he could be a good replacement for Hislop if he has some luck.
