Whoever plays the Egirls
Thread starter #1
I think his leadership this year has been nothing short of brilliant.

I will admit that when he was first announced as captain i had serious doubts about his ability to still play the game at the highest level let alone be captain.

And when he did his finger in the first game, i thought to myself here we go again with the captains curse.

After yesterday he showed us all why he was named captain.

His address to the players at the end of the game yesterday shows that he really wants all the players to keep there feet on the ground and continue to keep it all in check and not get ahead of themselves.

Well done Tommy i think the spoils are just around the corner for you.:thumbsu::thumbsu::)

Has been sensational this year as leader..both on and off field. Much kudos to those who selected him to be so at start of year...
Also kudos to Cam Mooney......his leadership of forward line as his controlled aggression should not go unnoticed

Demands respect. Just look how the boys are looking at him. Even expereinced players like Dash and Scarlo
Leadership personified. That picture says a 1000 words. Everyone is involved in his conversation, listening intently. I think he was vilified early on, when he was given the leadership role mainly due to being injured. However, since then I think he has developed into probably the best captain we've had in 10+ years.

Great photo.

I was just about to start a thread on Tom until I saw this one.

When he was made captain I thought - another injury prone captain?

When he made his return after the finger injury I didn't think he would be able to keep up, that the game had probably passed him by...I am happy to eat my words.

IMO he is the most improved player at GFC this year, he is playing the best football I have ever seen him play and I can think of none better than him to hold the cup aloft (hopefully) in 3 weeks time.

Pointed out on SEN yesterday is that it's (relatively) easy to find a good defender who spoils in a contest but Harley's first option is always to attempt to mark. I reckon that takes enormous skill and courage.

He's taken some rippers this year.

Back to his best! Commendable performance on Sunday by him; captains game. He took some great pack marks which impressed but he topped it off by providing run out of defence and through the middle also.

Keep up that scintillating form Harls!:thumbsu:

Hes been great. He stepped up to the plate yesterday when it was needed with egan out. He leads from the front.

The after match huddle was a great sign of leadership.

Tom Harley This Is Your Premiership

Geelong prior to this year has struggled desperately with leadership, as much as we all love King he simply did not have the leadership ability. I thoroughly believe that Geelong would not have won the premiership without Harley, he was the missing link. THANKYOU TOM HARLEY, YOU SUPERSTAR.

Very articulate, very brave, and got the best possible result out of our playing list. Will seriously go down as a true legend of the Geelong football club.

Articulate, obviously highly respected by the boys (and opposition), charming, hard as a cats head, terrifically courageous. Best captain for donkey's years.
