One of the biggest dog acts of the last few years. Deserves 6+ to show the players that unnecessarily causing a massive concussion for no reason is totally unacceptable. Who knows how bad the concussionis, it could effect gaff for the rest of his life. And all cause the campaigner was pissed off that he didn't get the ball. It makes a mockery of all the player union rhetoric over concussions.

That said, the tribunal will give him 3-4.

Before anyone disputes this- The mechanics behind why an elbow is so dangerous is that when an elbow is thrown it has the humerus lined up behind it which adds increased stability, impact and power. It's why elbows are banned in many combat sports, they're bloody dangerous even at low velocity.

I've been elbowed accidentally doing martial arts at next to no speed and I'd almost rather take a full on punch to the face - they really put you out.

He connected and Gaff didn't come back on so he deserves a holiday for late and high impact. No more than 3 surely. I'd give it 2. Player didn't return and impact was elbow. Bad and late spoil. It wasn't 3 secs after more like 1.

I'm against cheap shots and understand the head is sacrosanct but this is at the lesser end of a dog snipe.

'Drew Walker did the same thing to Westhoff in 2014 and didn't get a week for it IIRC. Be good if the AFL set an example with leading figures like Hodge who do similar dog acts but invariably get 2 weeks for them. Oh well.

3-4 weeks I'd say. This is only my feeling, more than 4 is pretty harsh and anything 2 and under is way soft.

Late, had no chance to impact the contest, led with the elbow, connected with the neck on a player in a vulnerable position coming back with the flight, knocked him out cold, went off with the stretcher and didn't come back on.

I can't see how this is not going to be a very significant suspension.

West Coast Twitter posted a pic of him giving a thumbs up and smiling laying down on the trainers table in the rooms. So he looks ok but would no doubt feel sore.

He extended the elbow to ensure contact. Wasn't in the contest, wasn't unavoidable. He made a decision to take Gaff out with very clear intent.

This is the type of incident that needs to be made an example of.
