News Tom Jonas sole captain for 2020

He seems to be standing taller wearing the #1. Absolutely rock solid down back last night. His best trait imo is his consistency. Never going to get a 11/10 performance from him that makes you go wow, but he will never give you anything below an 8/10.

A bit more of a leadership role for TJ.

Jordan Dawson the new Crows captain? Good player, but not a great sign if the best bloke you can find for captain is a guy who only turned up at the club 12 months ago and with no significant personal accolades outside of a Showdown medal.

His Wikipedia page is only two paragraphs long and the photo still has him in a Sydney guernsey. Not exactly high profile.
Still a better captain than Jonas

What significant personal accolades does Jonas have? please don't say he made the AA squad once it means three 5th's of sfa

I don't think Jonas is a good choice for captain either, but at least he'd been here longer than 5 minutes when we appointed him.

Think he was the correct choice - at that time.
Ollie wasn't ready then.
Now Wines should be skipper, and TJ has to fight to even get a spot in the side now.

If Ollie doesn't get the gig this season, then the club clearly don't rate him as top dog. He's 28, will be 29 next year, and unless a guy is only going to be a stopgap for a season or two, then you don't become in charge at that age.

If you want longevity in a captain, they are anointed around 25/26 so that they fit that middle profile of age between young guns and veterans, and so you get half a dozen years in the position.

Captaincy should end by the time you are around 31, unless you are so outstanding and still so much on top of your game, that you command a team spot automatically!

So it should be either Ollie THIS year - or else someone like Burton or Houston.

And don't anyone dare throw DBJ at me, or I'm comin' at ya with pitchforks. 🤬

How does Dawson being selected as their captain make Jonas a less terrible captain?
Deflection is becoming second nature to Port fans because of how much the admin and coaches do it.
