The only framing of the clip was whether or not the potential to cause injury clause should have been used for Butts failed swing at Lynch. The fact that Lynch is a grub that started it is irrelevant.

So by bringing up that the clip is edited you're just doing the same deflecting or justifying the swing that people are accusing richmond posters of doing.
Rubbish. As I mentioned the clip was originally posted on twitter with no context

And again, with no mention that both players had been charged and fined. The AFL via the MRO had reviewed the footage.

This makes the post and the clip deliberately deceptive. It's was dishonest. The poster was in essence lying by omission and the post was designed to create outrage at perceived injustice and including the tagging in of a variety of media media accounts, the AFL and a few others

If you're just getting hung up on the whole potential to cause injury, perhaps you should email the MRO at the AFL and see if they can provide you with an answer you'll accept?

why don’t they show tom lynch almost stomping on an adelaide players head? if we wanted the full story about his gutless thuggery, maybe start with that. CFL (vicbias) umpires didn’t even do anything to stop him. their agenda was solely protecting tom lynch.

any other league suspends him til seasons end.

This is why he won't share the whole clip, because it shows this happening immediately before the clip he posted.

Not sure how Lynch didn't get extra weeks for this too. Another roundhouse to the head all because he was frustrated.

Don't know much about Lynch in general, but he dead set had a screw loose last Sunday

Why does what happened immediately before hand matter? Nothing should be used to justify swinging like that right? From both of them?

The fines for that are perfectly reasonable. It's the hypocrisy I can't stand.

Charlie Curnow? Well he is the exact opposite as he DOES get free kicks pretty frequently (1.82 per game) and so why would he get frustrated?
Probably because he would be infringed by his opponent far more often than, on average, 1.82 times a game. :)

Have the AFL officially come out and said there was any frees missed to Lynch?

Because if not all the Tigers supporters arguments completely collapse.

They are suggesting if a player simply thinks they are being hard done by, they are allowed to use this as an excuse to start swinging their fist.

Furthermore, this mistaken belief from the player is entirely the umpires fault for not being able to control the players thoughts.

Because wrestling a player after they have roundhouse punched you in the head (what Butts did), is NOT THE SAME as (again) roundhouse punching a player because you think you should be getting free kicks.

If you think these things are the same, then there is no helping you.

It's not even a valid argument though.

Otherwise you just take that nonsense excuse and absolve every rapist, abuser, murderer etc, all on the pretence that someone else should have done XYZ to stop them getting to that point.

Do I think Lynch gets a raw deal with the umps? Yes. I thought T Cloke used to get a shit deal also, back in the day.
Does that make it OK to punch blokes? No, never.
Am I comfortable with the Lynch suspension? Absolutely.

I just wish the AFL and tribunal would stop cherry picking when to apply this 'potential for injury' when they want to make a suspension longer than their silly formula.

They should only be looking at intent IMO. Some of the suspensions we've seen this year are absolutely from pure accidents/football incidents. We want to remove the grubs, not the toughness and good/bad luck.

No, the footage shows Butts throwing two punches at Lynch's head also.

The wrestling isn't a problem IMO.

We could fold the entire forum and all just email the AFL then?

Come on now, this is a good place for discussion.

I think it's a fair point, and I'm not just talking about the likes of Lynch and Mansell.

I'd like to see this rule applied fairly and not just at their discretion when they want to rub someone out for longer without an injury to use as a vehicle to do so. Otherwise just get rid of it and focus on the 'intentional' category IMO.

You know what, Lynch isn't the first player who has been charged under the "Potential to Cause Injury" clause

If your club felt so strongly about his treatment, why didn't they appeal any of his 3 charges?

Adelaide submitted an appeal for the wrestling charge and fine imposed by the MRO on Butts

Richmond and Lynch .. crickets after all the bluster from Yze post game

To be honest I'm not really sure what the point of your post is, but anyway...

Correct, I am aware of this. I think they have missed others - am not suggesting it's a 'Richmond rule'.

I'm not privy to how the club feels about it. I don't think they should appeal. As I said in multiple other posts, I am comfortable with 5 weeks. He deserves it.

Any update on the appeal or not yet? I don't follow the news/neutral teams as much these days.

That's all there should be. Lynch should issue somewhat of a formal apology to the supporters IMO. I think he's a f-wit for some of his actions at times, but I am reluctant to brand anyone permanently and prefer just to look at their actions/behaviours at certain times. For last Sunday, he was definitely a f-wit.

They lost the appeal and the fine stands

I didn't know what the point of your post was either, but here we are
Haha

Well if it makes you feel any better, as much as I hardly watch neutral footy these days, Crows are one of the teams I absolutely enjoy watching. I was tuning in and out though because we were getting fisted in the ass so hard.

Been saying for years that I wanted RFC to go after Fogarty before he grew into his body and I have no idea where the heck Thilthorpe just found like 10kg of muscle but he's suddenly a moving mountain. Quite entertaining tbh.

Thilthorpe suffered a knee injury in the last preseason game last year and spent the next 4 months in the gym

Probably wouldn't have happened without the injury - or may have taken another 2-3 years

Fogarty is interesting 1. Might have been 'gettable' in his first couple of years. Has pretty much said now if he isn't playing for Adelaide he'll go back to the farm. Though he's currently contracted for another 5-6 years now

Yeah I reckon there was a 2-3 year period there where he was quite gettable until he grew into himself. Impossible to get him out now.

Thankfully RFC has finally started drafting KPFs!

North looked ok last night for 2.5 quarters

Still don't understand their drafting strategy though

KPP's often take so much longer and some clubs don't seem to able to actually develop them

Must admit I liked a few of richmonds kids (no idea who they are). Shame Lalor didn't play

I liked quite a few of the WC kids this year too. Completely different team to the team we played at home earlier this year compared to the WC team we played at home last year. They'll be ok
