Finally a post that isn't complete an utter rubbish in this thread. Tom Lynch is ******* star who is sick of busting his ass for a side he has no intentions of playing for beyond this season. All these so called criticisms of his game couldn't be any further from the truth. Lack of work rate? Injury free he is hardest working forward in the competition. Doesn't tackle? averaged 1.9 last season and he absolutely loves smashing blokes into the ground, which he can be prone to giving away silly free's as a result but the idea that he doesn't tackle is ridiculous. Doesn't ruck? This is the only one that is true but even so there is a very good reason for it, that being he doesn't have to, Gold Coast play with at least 2 tall forwards every week and have Day or Wright to go into the ruck when Witts needs a rest.
But the most ridiculous notion people seem to be sprouting is the idea Lynch will ruin our game plan. The reason our game plan become more successful at the back end of last season was we finally were playing with 22 blokes capable of playing their role, it took us 17 games of time wasting from Soldo, Griffiths and Elton to realise we were better off playing small instead of tall but realised it at the right time. Now if you add a player like Tom Lynch you're not only adding a player capable of playing his role but adding player who makes others around them better and will take the opposition best defender every week. That means Jack gets of the leash, it means the smalls can't be made void whenever we play a good intercepting team and aren't winning the ball out of the middle. Tom Lynch doesn't make our game plan worse, he makes it even harder to counter and should we get his signature without giving up too much then we are for sure going to competing for the flag whilst our current big 4 remain together.
