Funny thing on what the players did with Conca. There's a story in my mind about when the tigers were trying to get a player over (may have even been Treloar) and Maric rang the player and was explaining how we are a brotherhood at Richmond. I guess he wasn't speaking shit. It's a real thing.

Yeah i do recall something of that nature.Lesson there for Lynch.;)

If GC don't match and get say pick 5 as compo.
This is one of those drafts that should have clubs falling over each other to get pick 5.
You would imagine there are clubs that would trade a pick ~10, plus an established player around 27 years old, plus maybe a younger role-player for a chance at a decent pick in the superdraft. It's the sort of thing Hawthorn would do.
This is presuming GC want older players rather than high picks at this moment.
Pick 5 is likely to have more buyers, hence more likely to find a decent deal than trading with us or Collingwood for Lynch.

What could we possibly offer if forced to trade? pick ~ 18, the 2019 equivalent? Then choice of 2 players from Grigg, BEllis, K-Mac, Markov, CEllis, Menadue, Stengle, Bolton, Lloyd, Miles, Townsend, Broad, Butler, Castagna (useful players but arguably non-essential).....
Would we go so far as offering Graham, Rioli, Vlastuin, Short, Grimes, Caddy, Lambert? I would doubt it.
But there is a chance another club would offer similar for pick 5.

This is the concern, If we make a commitment to a player then its upto us to make the trade happen if gold coast match
I could easily see Gold Coast saying we want 2 x top 10 picks and we would be in a similar position to Hawks with O'Meara

Say for example they match then request a Castagna,Short,Lambert plus 2018+2019 1st rounders
would we be happy to lose this for Lynch ? I wouldnt

If Gold coast finished last or 2nd last i would think they wouldn't match but #5 is effectively 1 of the King boys where as the 2 1st rounders they trade out for players and get say Short so 3 players around the 22-26 year range

Ahh no you wont include yourself because next year last year is this year, so you failed. ;)
November is this year.

Didnt swallow have issues too?

They seem to cop a lot of injuries in general
Right you are, I thought there was another one. No doubt the Suns' injury management has been diabolical.

Butler and George most definitely won’t be offered up for trade , they’re key components of our trademark forward pressure , close to one of the silliest posts of the year

Yeah, I know.
I added them to the end of that list as they could potentially be replaced in the team by Stengle & Bolton.
My point was that we are very unlikely to make a trade like that for Lynch, but there may be teams who would make a trade like that for pick 3,4 or 5.
Hence Gold Coast should be better off not matching and receiving the compo pick. Even if they prefer established players, that high pick has a broader trade market than Lynch.

im almost certain that bolton will leave and stengle may even take some convincing to re sign . theres no way on earth they'd consider breaking up the trio that are a cornerstone to the brand of footy dimma wants the side to be famous for

I was so hoping Carlton won today , My god they just cant seem to get a win to get off the bottom
Saints , Brisbane , Carlton are like doing that extra bit not to win

how the hell did GC win the 3 games they did
Tom Lynch kicked 8 goals in one of them.

Way overs.
The way Short and Lambert are going those 2 alone in a trade would be worth the deal.

They can ask all they like but they wont get it. We would go to mediation with the AFL to bring them into line. At the end of the day we wont pay overs for him.

Why do you believe that CJ & Balta are years off ? They dont need to be stars just yet they only need to perform a role in our team just like McCartin is doing at Sydney swans.

Yes Lynch is a start but im yet to see that star this year and now that he is out we wont

In My Opinion we need role players that can play the Richmond way, Not 100% Convinced Tom Lynch has that in him but will support him if he comes
But very very worried about what he is going to cost as far as $$$ & Draft picks
CJ is years away simply because of his size. He's not the athlete MCartin is.

Balta is an even better athlete than McCartin, but doesn't yet have the footy nous. I was impressed with McCartin, good leading and marking. He's a real tall. Balta is a hybrid. I think he's a centre-half-back in time.

Don't worry about Lynch.

I hope you’re right mate , my experience is generally the only players that wanna leave a good side are those not getting a game , a few fall into that category , he s one . Never know though , he may get a chance next week and grab it by the horns

I think he knew from the day he was drafted , he would need time to develop and build a tank, his last 3 games he has played more midfield, and has been very good almost bog today, the club also knew that it would take 3 years or so before shai became afl fit,, i just cant see us losing such a prospect for the future, and im sure shai knows if he puts in the hard yards he will become afl regular, ,in 2019 i can imagine daniel and shai rotating fwd and mid , thats going to be so exciting

Think that depends on why they are not getting games
And how the coaches are relating to those players
