I love the confidence of so many how they believe Gold Coast dont match a bid because the compo bid is way too good but there is still a long way to go until its decided but let me just say there can be so many spanners in the works that it could change any minute.

The 2 McGovern Boys want to play together and Gold Coast would the ability to bring both into the club at over $1 million each and have the draft pick as well as dollars to do this.

Gaff , Sloan , Murphy ,McGovern , Guthrie , Atley , Lycett , Libba , Wallis , Dahlhaus , Roughead

These are all free agents and Gold Coast are desperate for mature experienced players to stem the bleeding and could decide to go after 1-2 or even 3 of these player which would mean their Compensation for Lynch would be gone or diluted to a level where its in their interest to pick up say

Guthrie , Atley & Dahlhaus for example and match the trade for Lynch to force Richmond or pies to trade

So Much more to play out still

Yeah I'm sure Gold Coast would love to turn down the chance to get the King twins just so they can get a couple of foot soldiers.

King boys are 4/5 years off having a benefit to Gold Coast and they have the KPF /KPD role well covered with what they have on the list

getting 2/3 established players as well as our 2 x 1st rounders and a player like B Ellis would be more appealing to them than just 1 pick #4

Gee whiz you're contradicting yourself a lot. So the King boys are 4/5 years off from being able to contribute and yet you claim that the likes of Balta and Moore are better options for Richmond going forward then having Lynch. Furthermore you claim that Gold Coast are set with their key position options and yet suggest that they use their cap space to try and unite the McGovern brothers or go after Roughead or Lycett. So why would they waste cap space on those guys if they don't need them. You also suggest that they go after Murphy, Sloane and Gaff who wouldn't consider Gold Coast if they were offering 1.5m a year which they wouldn't anyhow. That leaves you with Atley, Libba, Wallis and Dalhause, so the question becomes would you rather two of those guys or pick 4 in the draft. Im sure you can figure out what they would rather.

They may want these players but no one wants to go there, no matter the cash on offer. This is why they gave up pick 2 for Weller.

I get why sports codes want to be there it’s got a huge population growth potential up to Brissy and down into NSW, but it’s not set up in way that’s conducive to traveling around and it’s why sports clubs keep failing. GC is going to fail and players know it, they’ve already lost Ablett, Prestia and O’Meara, Lynch won’t be there next year. That’s your leadership group and it says a lot when they all fly the coup.

I hope we hold firm on this. That is, if he wants to leave. And that is still an if, and he is not pushing up his GC contract. But assuming he does want to come to Melbourne, and we have an offer Lynch is happy with, and he nominates us, when, and they will, GC start haggling for 2 1st rounders, we simply say "we can't do it".

Then, they either re-sign him to a long term offer to match ours, knowing he doesn't want to be there, (surely unlikely), or they let him go and take the compensation pick. He is RFA. They can't say to him, "we prefer the Dawks/Pies offer". The only power they have is to match. As long as we hold firm in the knowledge, itwould be great to get him, but dont need to go nuts with the trades.

Happy to be corrected if I've got that wrong.

Sorry but it doesnt really work that way

We make him an offer
Lynch accepts
GC have the choice to match
If they match then Lynch has a choiceto stay or to move
If he still wants to move
Then We have to satisfy his club
and when you make a commitment to a player you need to make it happen

What do you mean that's not how it works.
That's exactly what I said???

Edit: I see what you're saying. If we agree with Lynch to bring him, we should do whatever it takes to get him here??

Id highly doubt McGoverns would leave to go to GC , some of the Bgraders could be tempted by the dollars

He could also call their bluff , throw himself into draft and go to Carlton for nothing

No Chance , Jeromy has a $800k offer for 4 years from west coast and is looking for more dollars and years
Hawks dont have anything to trade for Mitch
If its a chance to play with his brother at the same club then $ wont be a bigger issue than if they're not.Hawks are very good at deals getting done.

What's Moore on 300K?
I imagine they would have budgeted ~600 to keep him , sounds like swans are offering like 900. I’m sure they’d be able to find the extra 400 I feel they had to if lynch was keen enough . With may name coming out you wonder if focus has shifted , could be a smokescreen though
