I hope we hold firm on this. That is, if he wants to leave. And that is still an if, and he is not pushing up his GC contract. But assuming he does want to come to Melbourne, and we have an offer Lynch is happy with, and he nominates us, when, and they will, GC start haggling for 2 1st rounders, we simply say "we can't do it".
Then, they either re-sign him to a long term offer to match ours, knowing he doesn't want to be there, (surely unlikely), or they let him go and take the compensation pick. He is RFA. They can't say to him, "we prefer the Dawks/Pies offer". The only power they have is to match. As long as we hold firm in the knowledge, itwould be great to get him, but dont need to go nuts with the trades.
