Do we have an advantage over Hawthorn given how dealings went a couple of trade periods ago? Richmond and GC seemed to have a good relationship with the Prestia trade whereas GC seemed really bitter about the Omeara trade.
Good point, lets add Will Brodie to the trade too

Relationships with Gold Coast have zero relevance.

Tom will nominate a club, everything else is irrelevant.

Something that I don't believe has been mentioned, apologies if it has, is why would Tom Lynch contemplate staying at a club with such a terrible history of managing injuries? If I was Tom and I was injured (especially a knee) I would have already told the club see ya later alligator. Maybe he already has.

I've thought this since Dimma said we were into him in the pre season. It made no sense unless we were conditioning the public.

There was such backlash when the swans got Tippet/Buddy, people were outraged and called it unfair. This gives the public time to understand how we can afford him and prepare for us to get him.

Also, it forces GCS to accept he's leaving and start thinking about trades
I've heard this "conditioning the public" thing a couple of times but I don't understand it. Who cares what the public think. Also I bet there is already dialogue behind the scenes or will be soon just like what happened with Prestia.

Well then he is a lock at #Go North!

There's a difference between staying for money and moving for money. Just because someone would stay for money doesn't mean they'd move for the same. Staying for money and being a one club player is much more respectable than moving for money.

Also, North couldn't pay him enough.

It's not as valuable for us as it would have been for the Swans. Buddy signing basically killed COLA. If news had leaked for a while, people would have been more ready for the developments and less outraged.
For richmond, it's less of a concern if people are outraged as it's unlikely the AFL would change rules because of it. It would result in PR of a more positive nature, rather than shock and outrage. I'm sure it's not a huge driver for us.

However, it also helps force Gold Coast to accept that we're getting him. Moves them out of the shocked and emotional stage where they demand the world and into the stage where they start to think about what they want in return in a potential trade

All the indicators are pointing to Tom being a tiger, the interesting part of this is the time of the announcement regarding his sister.
It seems to me that RFC are conditioning the public that it's going to happen and he will be a Tiger.

Tom is off for 4 weeks due to injury
Announcement of his sister is now a tiger

It's all adding up.

Add the fact that when him possibly moving is mentioned ours is the 1st Club named every time.

He's a Free agent so unless they match there is no trade. his deal will give them decent compo (the AFL will make sure of that) so if he does indeed nominate us he'll be a Tiger.

Very keen more than ever to get Lynch

So called experts in the media are staring to trash him saying he ain't no good...doesn't do enough

What do they expect? He plays for a pretend club Goldy...
Wait til. He gets to Punt Rd...we will de-Goldy him in no time...he'll love being a tiger
Let him get trashed, will only drag his price down for us

The way GC is going they're bottom 2-3, the compo pick at 3 or 4 in the super draft will be better than any of the teams who would be interested will be able to offer, looks as if Hawks, Collingwood and us (Vic teams that need tall forward) will all play finals. Even two first rounders, IF any of these teams were prepared to give that would all be in the 10+ range, I reckon you take a top 5 pick rather than two 15ish picks.

Only concern with Lynch is how it will effect our forward pressure with two talls running around. Right now our game plan is based around putting defenders under the pump so they’re forced to bomb it long, where it gets cut off by Rance , Vlastuin and co.

Replace one of Butler, Castagna, Rioli, Caddy or Townsend with Lynch and it makes it a lot easier to run it out of the backline.
I we do sign him, I reckon we will push Jack up the ground a bit and play a similar role to Adelaide's Tom Lynch - linking up rebound 50 to the forward line

Pushing Jack further up the ground is a good thing, I love they way our side is structured and playing but
sometimes I wish we had a making option on the wing to release the pressure. Having Tom will allow us to have the flexibility
to rotate Jack on the wing and Tom relieve the ruck up forward.
This is exactly how i envision our structure working - he'll end up playing a similar role to Adelaide's Ton Lynch, ironically.

Piss Off You Troll
Richmond need to finish top 4 - Looks likely
Gold Coast need to finish bottom 4 - Looks likely

Hawks/Pies need to finish 7&8 but get bundled out 1st week - Lucky to make finals but lets say they do
Lynch accepts $1 mi a year for 6 years

I don't think the club works like that. Once the club commits it honours its commitment and this deal will most likely be done early. We did this with Prestia and kept our word to both Prestia and GC despite a massive amount of backlash that we were paying too much in both $$ and trade. We banked a fair bit of respect from both player and GC. Other players take notice.
