Are we allowed to put Lynch in our best 22's?

Fun fact - Lynch is not the only 31 year old forward we have picked up from SA over the past 50 years.
I suppose you can if you like.
But our forward line is already hard to fit all our young blokes into.
I doubt he starts r1.
Is Cornes the other 31 year old?

He'll be great for the form and development of those young talls. Comben is a low disposal player and we should be looking at developing Edwards into a Luke Jackson type who wins it on the outside.
I was thinking the same thing.
X rucking. One or two of our young blokes will be playing midfield in the VFL. Laz for example. The VFL should be very competitive next year.
It all comes down to keeping our blokes on the park.
We need more than 5 blokes to play all 22 games next year.
That will improve our development heaps.

We should frame an over/unders market on AFL games played for us by Lynch. Let’s set it at, I don’t know, 5 games?

I could see a guy like Eddie (Mazda) Ford benefiting from Lynch & how he goes about it. Very smart one on one player, loses his opponent very well great kicking inside 50 skills & holds his width to allow an outlet.

Somebody a lot of the young guys could learn of at training along side Boomer.

That is very rude. Lindsay Thomas wasn't 31yo when we drafted him, he just had a 'mature' look.

Welcome to the best club in the world Lynchy. Can’t wait for you to pass your intimate football knowledge onto our kids and help fast track their development 👍

Understand the premise, with the soft cap ect but I think it stinks that it may have cost Ham or Dumont their career.
Ham maybe, but I can't see Dumont being moved to rookie list. Wouldn't make sense.

We just doing it, coz we can?
A rookie spot taken up by someone who will put work in for us rather than one we need to put work into, and it allows us to pay for more man hours than other clubs.

It's debatable but I'm not against the logic of trying to maximise the return of the kids on the list rather than trying to maximise the number of kids on the list.

Not inherently against the concept but am a little curious how our soft cap is so loaded up that we're needing to apply creative accounting.
Doesn't help that we've just hired an entire SC dept, Medical dept, football boss and Lawyer in the same offseason.
They'd be accounting for some more trainers and support staff to come in also.
Lynch's rookie cash could be the difference between extra part time staff or not.
I know richmond had to fire some people when the Fines hit richmond from stack and CCJ breaching covid rules.

Yep covid hit soft caps hard, all the things you mentioned with the new hirings, plus I’m sure we’re still paying off a few coaches from Shaw’s panel if that hasn’t been mentioned yet.

Yeah I totally forgot the lay offs from those who'd be getting redundancy packages.

I don’t mind it. 25ish under 23 players, or, 24ish under 23 players plus Lynch mentoring and guiding them? We are hardly sniffing out the last vestige of youth.

I think back to the lasting legacy Dermie left on Sav Rocca in his swan song year with Collingwood. An on field VFL coach to support the young talls seems a good use of a finite budget.

Soft cap cut by 3 million across the board. Doing it because we want to and potentially because we have to. I prefer the alternative which is no specialised development coach for our forward line.
