Can't play, no good, move on, nothing to see here, FFS Melbourne kicked 12 goals in a quarter against GWS, doesn't that say something? :)
Loved Newnes' game tonight vs Carltank.

Newnes is a hard ball player of the future. He will be targeted though, but hopefully the Saints will target those who target him.

Brutal game this Aussie Rules you know. Just brutal.

It's funny how it works, if that was Rhys Stanley kicking 10 goals against GWS everyone would be celebrating and no one would mention "it's only against GWS". Funny though Buddy only kicked 4, Roo 3 and Milney best is 5 vs them.

You need to put into perspective on who played on Sunday compared to who played on those players you mentioned 3 of his goals were on #23 Sam Reid = dud only 1 goal on there best backman Mohr and Mohr wouldn't get a game at any other side including Melbourne. They were missing Phil Davis who would of picked him up on the day.

I don't buy that, Thunda. If Stanley did that, I think there'd be tons of us trying to keep a lid on it.

My prediction for Sunday evening's game.... Tom Lynch no goals & less than 8 touches :thumbsu:

.... just sayin :D

Lynchy has been in pretty good form before GWS. Hes 4th in the AFL for average marks per game, pretty impressive. He played ok against carlton, and i thought he was one of our best against the hawks. My prediction is 15-20 and 1-2 goals. Dont know who you guys will play on him, none of your backmen would be able to keep up with him. I reckon Gwilt will go to him.

More importantly, who will you play on dangerfield guys? geary did well against murphy, but i dont think he has the size for paddy. We will probably send VB to dal santo, and kerridge to steven

In regards to the Mouse, I agree that Gears might lack the size - perhaps Dempster might go to him - but I still think Jarryn will get first dibs on him.

We'll put Roberton on him. Lynch will not have a great game.

Roberton to Lynch? interesting. I reckon gwilt will. Roberton doesnt look like he has the aerobic capacity to play on lynch. You guys will lose simply because you wont be able to stop dangerfield

He was on track for 10+ kicked 4 in a quarter or may have been a half before injuring his Hamstring.

We wont be playing Stanley on him, as he will go to Jenkins/McKernan when they are forward. That leaves Gwilt, Dempster or Fisher. I'd be happy with any of them to play on Lynch, but I would say Fisher or Gwilt because Dempster usually plays better on smalls. He would go to the resting midfielder. Geary may just play off the back flank this week due to the injury to Nate Wright. Webster will probably get a full game. I'd go with Saunders for the sub

Not sure who we'd play on Danger while he's on the ball. Probably have Jones come back & just run with role as opposed to a hard tag

Roberton will run rings around Lynch.

Ah yes, the old mentality of the 1 player-team. Although dangerfield is an amazing player he makes up not even 5% of the TEAM. Considering we have one of the best taggers in the game (Jones), with Fazza and Geary both more than capable of doing a shut down role, and Dal santo proving that he plays well when he's against the best. I personally don't see Dangerfield as the main focus.

Considering you rotated 16 players through your forward line last week isn't necessarily a good thing, it may (probably does) suggest the current people in your forward line aren't capable to kick the required goals, hence, others are being given a go. Although our defense isn't, quote, "super impressive" the strategically selected players act like perfect cogs in an engine that supplies the power needed for our midfield. They may not be the best players in the league the defensive line has held up well with both key players and All Australians like Dempster, and new faces like Wright and Roberton stepping up and playing as if they'd been studying our defensive setup for years.

Now i may have come across a bit cocky but that's simply based on a range of your comments, it should be a close match but at the end of the day, when I look at it, it's Adelaide who'll have to be thinking of how to shut us down, rather than the other way round.

Roo won't be amazingly shut down as you claim, unless your coach can whip up something new, rather than the old 1 on 1 where Roo ends up embarrassing the defender. Midfield wise you have 2 very good players but based on recent form if we play like we did against Carlton but instead, take our chances and not miss 5-6 kick able goals then we'll be in with half a chance.

Saints by 23.

Sounds like you don't really have a clue to be honest

i think roberton runs nearly all day!

I would be tempted to play Fisher on Lynch. Dispite his 10 goals, he is by no means a Jack Riewoldt. I think Fisher would have a good chance of nullifying Lynch while still be able to run off him. Otherwise Gwilt seems to be the man for the job.

Would not waste Dempster or Roberton on him, we need them for smaller faster forwards and midfielders coming forward.

If Rhys Stanley is going to be our "big defender" then why wouldn't we play him on lynch?

This place is going to blow up if Lynch either has a poor game or is subbed out because he's not running out the game. I think the former is likely with Dempster or Roberton going to him

Because Lynch isn't the 'big' forward

Might be able to learn a thing or two off the "smaller" forwards though. I'd rather Fisher/Dempster take "big" forwards as we know they can actually handle them. Stanley should be taking 2nd or 3rd tall

Who cares who we play on him. Anyone of Fisher, Gwilt, Dempster or Roberton would keep him quiet. We've all seen enough of him in his years here to know he's not a game breaker. 1 game doesn't make a career, may have improved since leaving us but still has a lot to prove.. Watching his 10 goals was a lot of luck and benefiting from team mates good work in there. Well done to him but he's not a big concern for us going into this game..

I agree with the point you are trying to make. Not sure if Stanley should be taking the no.1 forward, like the Clokes of the AFL. However, i'll leave it there as it's probably a discussion for a different thread...
