Youd think supporters of our club of all teams wouldn't be so quick to write off players as too old and slow
Absolutely, 2023 Tom Mitchell final series was immense , has Long covered in every facet on that form , question remains , can he get back to that form ? Going to be an interesting watch . the guy is a ball magnet freak , he compensates for his lack of leg speed with footy smarts and great lateral movements and deft sidestep. Come on Tommy gun .. one more flag for you little champ

Does anyone have any information on how long he played in his first couple of VFL games back?

Watched and thought he looked okay, same tough side but probably didn’t use it as well as he would have wanted to. (Last week).

Had 10 disposals 7 contested at 100% with six clearances in I believe it was a half of a game? Against the Bullants.

104 fantasy 21 disposals 12 contested 13 tackles 3 clearances at 52% against GWS.

If anyone else has any information on how he’s going that would be appreciated

He only played a half in his return game against the Bullants.

Against GWS, he played in each quarter, but looked to be on the bench more frequently than other midfielders. Speculating, maybe 75% of his usual TOG?

Not sure how to take how far along he is since he’s been out for so long, hopefully not long until he can build some form back however. Definitely a useful option still.

Definitely looked more at home in the 2nd game. Watching up close at the ground and his hands in close are so many levels above the other VFL players it was absurd. The speed he collects the footy and fires it off by hand to someone in space is still really good.

Given some of our ancient players I'm sure he'll get a run at some stage. He'll work his tail off to do so

Has a superb workrate and work ethic which I’ve always liked about him.

Noticed he was often too quick for his teammates which caused them to fumble or force a hack kick. Those quick handballs out from under packs are still invaluable to the class around, he still has his Tackling, contested side, cleanliness, handskills and workrate.

Plenty for the Pies to think about but you’d have to think he would get a chance and then whether or not he takes it and cements a spot is up to him. Could play another role in a big game like the grandfinal a couple years ago.

Yep. Assuming he stays healthy, he'll play games in the second half of the year. Spots in our midfield are tight, but if he plays well enough he'll play in Sept.

I think we’ve forgotten how important he is once finals and contested footy rolls around
He was so important in September 2023. If we're fit in September, there will be a couple, or even a few, hard luck stories. At this stage, it's anyone's guess who it'll be.

Hopefully the boys can all see the pressure for spots and that’s making them work extra hard knowing what’s potentially at stake.
