Nostradamus Lives Tom Mitchell to Hawthorn

He said he was excited about finals didn't he?

From what I read he didn't really commit to Sydney, just a strong finals campaign.

Tom's manager came out & said that the ball is in the Swan's court on whether Tom stays.
It now seems that the Swans have returned serve & put the ball fairly & squarely in Tom's court.
If Tom goes to the Hawks it will be for more or less the same money, but he says he loves the Swans. So he's going to go to a club he loves less than the Swans for similar remuneration? Tom seems to be listening to the wrong people as he seems very unsure on what to do.

He may not have '"really" committed to the Swans but he seems far from committed to going to anyone else, least of all, to a team about to lose some of the best players ever to wear the brown & gold & that are solely responsible for this wonderful patch of success. The Hawks with Tom Mitchell but without the Sam Mitchell, Hodge, Burgoyne, Gibson & Lewis at their best, can end in tears for both parties. Tom is not a number one midfielder. This was proven when JPK missed the Richmond game in Rd 8 & we had the lowest possession count for the year by nearly 100. This is the moment I believe the Swans were prepared to part with him if he asked too much.

Enjoy!

None of that matters mate. I would bank hawthorn for the premiership if Tom joined sammy, lewis , hodge, Burgoyne etc.. even if it meant they have one year to go boss!! Tom needs to sign by rd23 or he's gonski.

Tom will have to be happy playing second fiddle to JOM.

What the Hawthorn Football club has achieved in recent times is remarkable but the Hawks are desperate to land Mitchell & JOM because there is a severe void in talent once these old 5 irreplaceable genuine stars retire. In season 2017 Mitchell will be 34, Gibson 33, Hodge 33, Burgoyne 34, Lewis 31. Thes 5 players are week in week out still in your top 10 rated players in nearly every match.
2017 is a real danger year for the Hawks as Clarko has gone down the same path as Ross Lyon at St Kilda. At least the Hawks have landed some flags but now comes the tricky times for Clarko. Like Carey, Longmire, Schwass etc at North did for Pagan, these 5 have been the backbone of Clarko's success. It will get significantly harder for him without them. Hartung isn't what Clarko is used to. O'Rourke the same. They are just average players. The polish players that finish of the hard work done by these 5 stars, Gunston, Rioli, Breust, Smith & Hill, will suffer without them. We have seen glimpses of this in games this year when Hodge or Mitchell have been missing but none without 3 or 4 of the 5 missing.

Interesting times. What have the hawks got to give up to land these Mitchell &/or JOM?
By not staggering the retirements of their hardened star players, as the Cats & Swans have, the Hawks will have a severe void in talent on their list in the coming years.

List management!
A fine line between a genius & a fool!

This!
Carlton are staying very quiet but have the pick we will accept!

Trigg has come out and said that we are unlikely to trade our first round pick, which looks like it will be #5.
Guess we'll see what transpires when the trade period begins.

Yep! Best to keep that & use it in the draft for an unknown quantity with the hope that in 3 years he turns out to be as good a player as............say.............umm...........Tom Mitchell!

Tend to agree with this. Carlton would be silly not to consider trading pick 5 for Mitchell, with a later pick possibly going Carlton's way also.

You can build a 10-year midfield around Cripps and Mitchell. And Carlton have enough young talls as it is.

I would definately give up pick 5 for Mitchell if we were to find another first rounder from elsewhere!!

Hmm...
It would seem that to be labeled a fool off the back of a 3 peat would suggest that familiarity breeds contempt.
Clarko is more the former than the latter one would suggest given his list management has debuted 8 players this season, was atop the ladder not 2 weeks ago, hasn't had a Full forward or CHF basically all year, had extended periods without his captain & has still managed to steer the club to a top 4 position pending a win over the pies.

Top end talent is definitely required but the education that our juniors have received moving forward may have us dangle a leg off the cliff but a fall is not imminent.
