Not for Sydney this year. We will need points in 2017 though as we have a few highly rated ones. Would be personally going after 2017 picks if it were me.

GWS have a few prospects this year though. They have 3 in the top 30 minimum
Not sure of the points but if 14 and 22 are greater than their pick at 7, that might interest them. Then use pick 7 to trade for either Mitchell or O'Meara(Probably O'Meara). Then 1st round 2017 and a sweetener for the other

I would rather they keep him unless a great offer presents itself. Likely that wouldn't come from Hawhorn, if he doesn't want to go to Carlton or GCS (who'd probably offer a great deal) then I hope he stays.
I think the interesting part of it all is that if they were able to reshuffle a bit and get a deal financially suitable how close would they be on the cap for Heeney, Mills and Aliir, especially when you are so well stocked in the position. You wouldn't want to be getting into the 98-99% mark with those players likely needing a contract in the next few years would you? I would love him at Hawks but it is seeming his heart is pulling him towards staying and if thats the case you cannot blame him.

GWS will take 7 to the draft they would be nuts not too. Will still have enough points for their academy boys and they could get a Taranto or someone like that on top.

AFL changed the rules regarding that
now u can only use picks to how many spots you have on ur list
e.g you cant use 33, 33, 34, 35 on a mills to equal pick 3

Genuine question , my mail is he's informed Syd he wants to stay but wants a revised offer , he's also told them if it's not achievable he wants a trade to Hawthorn .
As a Swans fan do you want the club to come to the party even if it may effect other plans this trade period or would you prefer they let him go ?
Within reason maybe. I don't want to overpay and that's my issue. Not sure I'd be paying upwards of 500/550k and that's a sticking point with Heeney, etc off contract soon

Are any of their academy prospects likely to go before that? If not, then they would probably hang on to 7
I'm just trying wondering if we could use pick 14 and likely 22 to move up the draft order, which might help satisfy GC or Sydney

So much info that is rightfully behind closed doors for the contract offers. Was the potential retirement of McGlynn etc factored into the original offer? Was the inflation required in the Heeney and Mills offers taken into account? When was the last contract offer? If it was as rumored at half way through the year then was the improvement and therefore money needed for Aliir Aliir taken into account. Will be fascinating to see how this plays out in the next few days but if Sydney are scrambling to find the money to get it done then it mightnt be decided till the second week of the trade period at the earliest

Perryman might but it depends what Carlton are looking at especially.

Also don't discount GWS getting pick 5 in the Marchbank trade (along with a few others), they may then send 5+7 to Essendon for pick 1 to get McGrath.

If they don't trade 7 I expect GWS to take it to the draft

finished 6th this year after finals. you think we'll finish lower next year ?
Well you were in the top four at the end of the home and away season. Find it hard to believe you'll end up top four again. It's only a matter of time before the gun veterans can no longer bring it each week, and there really isn't a great deal of young talent there to replace them.

Disagree, Hawthorn have a lot of youngsters that are just being developed properly, no point rushing players when there is zero need for it. Burton as it is looks top shelf quality, Sicily looks good, etc.

The longer it's gone on, the more I think he really could stay.
Were exit meetings today? Think I remember hearing that something will be mentioned on Thursday either way. Guess it will be spoken about at his exit meeting. They had mad Monday yesterday so they would have only started those meetings today at the earliest you'd think

I could be wrong but the heeney mills aliir thing won't be a factor. We have Reid out of contract next year, tippett 2 years with mcveigh likely to retire next year. Smith Grundy and Jack are all coming to the end as well. I think they'll be enough to back end contracts for the younger brigade.

As has been said in the Tippett thread, you're arguably better off letting Kurt go for a packet of chips just to clear his salary off your books. Then you're laughing...plenty of $$$ to keep all the kids happy.

Had Sydney won the premiership, I think he would've left for money and more opportunities. However, in this sitiuation, I think he'll stay in an attempt to become a premiership player.

Seems odd Sydney will sign on Alex Johnson before gettin Toms deal sorted. In hindsight they should've waited on the Gary 'leon davis' Rohan deal.

AJ would be on the absolute base contract after 4 years without a game and would be a 1 year extension. A no brainer really.

His contract would not have a baring on if we could afford Titch or not.

Then it would make sense to delist him and then select him in rookie draft. Tom is gone.
