Then it would make sense to delist him and then select him in rookie draft. Tom is gone.
No because we can't put him straight on our rookie list. We would need to redraft him and hope no one selected him before us.

So we would risk loosing him. Similar to Geelong with Menzal.

A club can pick them before your first pick in the rookie draft. You take a risk by doing it.

There is no provision to just put them on the rookie list.

Didn't kangaroos loose a player a couple of years ago to the same circumstance?

If he nominates us he comes to us. Its that simple.

If Vickery chooses us we get him.

JOM has chosen us. We get him.

Or you can show all the players who didnt end up where they wanted?
Ryan O'Keefe says hello, sure he may not have nominated you guys, but he backed his bags & was ready to go only for your guys to baulk at the trade.

Had Sydney won the premiership, I think he would've left for money and more opportunities. However, in this sitiuation, I think he'll stay in an attempt to become a premiership player.
"More opportunities" what, he's best 22 so playing week in week out. Surely you don't mean flag opportunities.

Not to nit pick but didn't ROK say in a radio interview that he was never in the frame to go to the Hawks and it was just a media beat up?

Apparently had no contact with the Hawks at all IIRC.

Hence why Hawthorn isn't going to be the same, and the idea that they're an ideal place to go for many is a bit silly.
People join Hawthorn as it's an environment that enables you to get the best out of your ability and is a competition leader in many facets ( coaching, fitness, medical, training). It's the culture more than the three peat why we recruit players. We recruited Burgoyne, Gibson, Gunston, and Hale all pre 3 peat

Jesus h christ you're in danger of disappearing into your own rectum.

You know who also used to have "an environment that enables you to get the best out of your ability and is a competition leader in many facets ( coaching, fitness, medical, training). It's the culture more than the three peat why we recruit players"?

Brisbane.

Culture only lasts so long. Players like Hodge, Burgoyne, Lewis, Mitchell etc define that era, and unless you manage to do incredibly well recruiting wise, every dynasty falls eventually.

I'll be stunned in 2-3 years if the Hawks are still in the midst of the top four. Getting Mitchell and O'Meara and them being massive players for the Hawks would have to be the case, but I just can't see both ending up there.

Please explain to me how you got the likes of Buddy, Roughead, Lewis, Hodge etc? It certainly wasn't by remaining on top of the ladder.
We had a couple of poor years and traded very well.

We didnt spend 10 years at the bottom ruining the careers of countless numbers of players.

And we are currently rebuilding while in the 8. Mitchell will be a great addition.

Seems odd Sydney will sign on Alex Johnson before gettin Toms deal sorted. In hindsight they should've waited on the Gary 'leon davis' Rohan deal.
Johnson is on minimum wage and we couldn't risk another club grabbing him prior to our pick in the rookie draft. Rohan had a good season and is a required player.

You seem to hold a fair bit of passive aggression towards Hawthorn and its culture. How would you be managing Hawthorn differently to ensure a competitive Hawthorn and strong cultured Hawthorn?

I can sense some salt.

No doubt it isn't forever (A 3 peat winning team). But there is a reason we have won a flag every decade since the 60s.
