You'll offer that for O'Meara and GC won't be interested in the slightest. They've got more than enough middling to average picks in the draft, they either need quality picks (think top 10) or experienced talent like a Hartlett type.

If Mitchell was in this years draft where do you think he would go? I'd easily take him in the top 10....
That's all they'll get & both will accept it.

You're living in fantasy land of denial....We've got em both, so deal with it.

"Sydney has offered Mitchell a deal of only $380,000 a season — a pay cut on his current wage — which is likely to force him out of the club."
That is a massive low ball offer. Sydney should be doing everything they can to keep this kid. Unless of course he wants to leave. On the open market I suspect his value would be around the 500-650k mark. Some may even believe he is worth more than that. Either way, it is a long way from 380k.

Cap must be really strained. Thought I heard they were open to moving Reid to open space. He was on good coin wasn't he?

Your arrogance is unbelievable. For once it looks like Hawks will struggle to get their deals done. I think Gold Coast look quite prepared this time to put a stake in the ground and Swans are fair traders but don't get reamed.

For those that say the Swans cap is full, I note they've just upgraded yet another rookie to the main list on a two year contract so it's not quite full yet. Swans are obviously planning to offload fringe and older players to make cap room, as they did in consecutive years for Tippett and Buddy, about $1.8mill in fringe players those two trade periods.

So I don't think O'Meara and Mitchell are certain to get to the Hawks but that spud Vickery is a certainty to line up for them, just not sure if it's for the seniors or Box Hill!

Interesting. They really must be under cap strain. I didn't factor that in. I was wondering that with aging stars like Kennedy, McVeigh, and even Jack on their list, why the Swans wouldn't of planned for Mitchell. When you mentioned cap strain, I realised that the Swans probably planned around having COLA included, and now it isn't - Mitchell has to go. I am not sure what Reid is on, I couldn't find a dollar amount anywhere. But I think he is signed till the end of 2017. It wouldn't have been cheap at the time.

Not too sure, they did sign him up long term on a big deal when other teams came knocking a few years back

LOL....Swans have done quite well out of us: Buddy, Kennedy (Their 2 best players) & McGlynn. All 4 next to nothing....It's time for a little quid pro quo on that front.

O'Meara has dodgy knees & hasn't gotten on the park for any length of time for 2 years....It's just a bit of the old 'huff & puff' & 'chest-beating' we've all come to expect this time of year from clubs losing wanted players....Reason & the Hawks will prevail in the end & time will bear that out soon enough.

In spite of your envy to the contrary.

Gcs fans on their trade page seem to think they have a good chance. Think he would prefer to stay at sydney if he coulsnt get to the hawks.
Gcs wont play too much of the hard ball as they need to get talent in and talent that actually wants to be there. If a player is yraded there you know he wants to stay

It would appear you're the arrogant one.

Sydney can't even afford to pay Mitchell over $500,000 yet they can afford O'Meara who would cost them more salary wise? :drunk:

Hawthorn's track record of landing players who've nominted the Hawks as their club of choice end up getting there.

Would use some of that O'Meara money on Mitchell for sure. Again, don't think we are in the conversation, as we aren't a "Destination Club". But would fit into our midfield quite well.

If he's after cash he'll consider any club willing bid for him. The Hawks are usually pretty fair at the trade table but if they low ball on Mitchell you can be sure the Swans will shop him around to Carlton, Gold Coast etc. No point strengthening a main rival for unders.

The funny thing is, swans are only willing to pay Mitch $380k, but their fans are asking for a top 10 pick.....
If he was worth that then surely you could find more money to keep him.....

Hawthorn will appeal more than teams like Carlton based purely on potential for success. But if GC offer him $100k a season more than the Hawks, that's enough to turn heads
