Mitchell is absolute elite at his position at the age of 23. If he went through the draft he'd go at 1/2 this year. If they're multiple suiters, he could get 2xlate first rounders, so Hawthorn's 2016 & 2017 first round picks. JOM is worth significantly less imo. Mitchell really isn't as slow as others described and skills are decent.

In terms of midfielder ranking purely from an inside/clearance perspective I'd have Mitchell 3rd
1. Cripps
2. Bontempelli
3. Mitchell
For purely clearances/inside surely josh kennedy is 1...agree with the rest tho, matt crouch pushing hard for 5th

Deary oh....Mitchell is behind all of Kennedy, Parker & Hannebery....And that's just at Sydney.

They can't match our offer & he's out of contract.

Time to step back into the real world.

Did u read his whole post? "Purely" inside. Parker and hannes offer far more on the inside and are fairly similar inside hence they get more $ and minutes rightly so

Even still, until he actually shows it, it's a stretch to claim that he's an elite inside mid. Understandably, it might be partially due to the dominance of his teammates and the opportunity he gets to play a certain role, but he's not even top 3 at his own club for contested possessions or clearances, so it takes a bit of imagination and projection to put him in the truly elite company in that area of the game.

Sydney Swans, 2016

Clearances Per Game
Josh Kennedy - 7.73 (#2 in the league)
Luke Parker - 6.13 (#11 in the league)
Daniel Hannebury - 5.04 (#27 in the league)
Tom Mitchell - 3.52 (#61 in the league)
Kieren Jack - 3.41

Contested Possessions Per Game
Josh Kennedy - 16.91 (#1 in the league)
Luke Parker - 14.04 (#7 in the league)
Daniel Hannebury - 13.70 (#9 in the league)
Tom Mitchell - 11.78 (#22 in the league)
Kieren Jack - 9.68

True but part of the reason why Mitchell is considering leaving is due to the competition for midfield spot at Sydney. He has been played as a tagger, a half forward, an outside midfielder all for extensive parts of the year. These roles are not clearance stat friendly, but when he does play that complete inside role, he usually dominates.

The coach doesnt play him inside so the stats show just how good he is for his limited minutes there

Sydney also have Heeney & Mills ready to step up & fill the void, along with Jack & McVeigh....Mids are the least of their concerns.

If he was THAT good they'd offer him more to keep him.

Just because Hawthorn is chasing a player doesn't immediately raise their stock 2x.....We're seeing it with O'Meara, Vickery & Mitchell

Delusional & hysterical media & posters, laced with envy & salt....It''s a crack-up.

pick 13-14 and Langford is about right .
I believe the Langford family has spent a considerable amount of time living in Sydney.
Know idea if he would be open to leaving Hawthorn or if Sydney have any use for him.
They may have use for a run-with mid if Mitchell leaves. Either way, not sure Langford really shifts the needle at the trade table anyhow
