Mitchell's value (trade value and value to Sydney) has increased due to his performances in these finals to date. Would Sydney be prepared to trade out Sam Reid in order to free up salary cap space to meet Mitchell's demands? Reid is on a hefty long-term contract, but his injuries and the emergence of Xav Richards has pushed him back in the pecking order.

Am I missing something here?

Arguments over Hawthorn's best players being too old in a thread about drafting a talented young player into the team.

What's the problem here?

Yes - we rely too much on Mitchell, Hodge, Burgoyne and Gibson. It's not hard to admit. The club has basically admitted it by targeted T Mitchell and J'O Meara.

We also went after O'Rourke last year. He certainly hasn't come on in any way shape or form but the hawks are clearly going after players in the 20-25 year age group. So anyone who says we're old is correct. Anyone who says we're on the slide is assuming that the things that went wrong this year won't be addressed in the offseason (or assuming that the rest of the league will overtake us).

But I dunno - there were only 2 teams that did better than us in H&A this season. Only two. It's also pretty rare that a club does a mega tank/dive like Collingwood did to get Daisy (going from grand finalists to finishing 13th a year later) or Freo (minor premiers to 13th the next year).

And even if we are going to slide, I reckon we're entitled to it after 4 grand finals in a row. Not sure why it's meant to be a source of ridicule.

Bigfooty is a strange place sometimes.

What do Sydney fans think is fair for Mitchell , from hawthorn that is ?
It's a tough one. They really don't have anything we need.

Isaac Smith is about the only player we'd want (despite his propensity to choke under pressure), and they have no good picks.

I'd gamble on next year's first, because i think they'll end up with pick 8-12.

Would have thought you had his type covered? You guys have a ton of small mobile forwards. Wouldn't you be after a tall instead? (I know you have Redpath, but he's good, but not great).
We need a classy ball user like Breust , we have a lot of scrappy ball users , with the tall department we have Cloke coming in and we can only hope he isn't finished

A future first rounder for T Mitchell seems fair.
He's worth a first round pick.
Apparently Swans need points for Academy kids next year so a future pick might be ideal for them.
