The most comparable trade that has happened recently to Tom Mitchell would be Adam Treloar similar age, similar market value.

Collingwood gave up pick 7, pick 65 and future 1st round.. So 2 top 10 picks + change for Treloar and pick 28.

If Hawks want Mitchell i would think they will need to come up with something similar.. Not sure how that happens whilst getting JOM as well.
Treloar was there best player with ward. Titch not in sydneys top 6 and doesnt have a host of clubs fighting for him like treloar did.

When the players ahead of Mitchell are Buddy, Parker, Hannebury, Kennedy, that reasoning doesnt work. If Mitchell put himself out to market every single club in the comp would throw there hat in the ring. 23yo averaging 30 possessions a game dont grow on trees.

Hawthorn have a good reputation for targeting the players they want and getting the deals done smoothly with confidence.

2016 1st, 2017 1st, Hill and Breust will get O'Meara and Mitchell done.
Take this to the bank and I don't care which bank.

Unless something cataclysmic happens the Hawks will not be trading Bruest and the club has made it clear to Bruest as has Bruest made it clear to the club.

Bruest has been told he is a required player and the discussions for a contract extension are under way.

Agreed. If Hawthorn is offloading Breust I can easily see them having enough currency.

Pick 14 this year, next year's first rounder, a late first rounder (say, 15-20) for Hill, and a pretty good pick for Breust (especially if sent to GWS who have chased him twice already now) would see two first rounders available for both which will be more than enough.

Of course if something amazing is offered by GWS this may all change but at this point in time Bruest has been told he is not trade bait.

Hawthorn's trading strategy appears to be based around Fremantle and Sydney doing something stupid and counter productive.

I can see Fremantle managing to pull that off, but how Hawthorn will convince Sydney to give up Tom Mitchell for a late first round pick or even two is completely beyond me. If they do that, they're morons.

What do you base this on?

A few posts in a random internet forum?

You and I and anyone in here have no idea what the Hawks trading strategy is, all we know is that Grahame Wright and the Hawks are brilliant at it.

Spot on. Given where they finished on the ladder, the Hawks don't have the threat of the PSD to try and squeeze a deal so any trade will need to be beneficial for Sydney, otherwise we'd be better off letting him go for free to a non-contender. This is not a Luke Ball situation who had significant durability question marks when he left the Saints, Mitchell will not last Hawks pick in an open draft
