Analysis Tom Mitchell

Quiet night by Tom's standards. Only the 26 disposals at 76% DE and 7 tackles.
20 uncontested. Clearly a cheap, soft outside runner. bedford will be on his case soon.

It was actually just an accurate post. It's one of the lowest disposal tallies he has had all year, I didn't need any sarcasm or passive-aggressive text.

That's what I thought, though those numbers still indicate he had a pretty good game. Ultimately he has performed when he's been in the team, it took him a while to get back in, some think it took him longer than it should have, but that's in the past now.

It wasn't a huge game for him tonight, but I did like seeing him in the last quarter still doing the 1%ers. After dishing off a handball I saw him a number of times then sprint to shepherd off a North player. That follow-up stuff doesn't get counted on the stat sheet and shows that his fitness is much better than the last few years.

Not really, we lost the Bulldogs game because Bird was "tagging" Robert Murphy.

He should of tagged Shaw he hit the dogs forwards lace out

Poor Bird, I do like him as a player, it will be a shame if he is remembered for that effort.

He is a premiership player doubt he will be remembered for any "tagging"

I know, it's just a recency effect, we always tend to remember what happened last.

When I look at Tom Mitchell, I think..Greg Williams. The new Greg Williams. Their respective games are so similar.

Tommy did some good things again tonight. He's a best 22 fixture now.

Meh hasnt really impress me the past few weeks and hasnt stood out. Racks up numbers sure but he isnt a clutch player or a player who turn the game in a 5 min burst, which is what i would expect from the attitudes in this thread.

My love towards Horse is that he is FINALLY playing Mitchell, the best player to ever wear red and white.

He is a ball magnet but his games are not memorable. I tend to only remember his poor disposal decisions.
At least the game against North he didnt turn it over but seemed to just take the easy option and dispose of it laterally.
I think he is a bit scared to turn it over now so lets the teammate make the kick forward.

Mitchell's fan base runs way ahead of his abilities. He's a good in and under player, good with his hands (compared to his feet). Too slow to play outside and can't take a contested grab. I expect that's what Horse sees - plenty of room for improvement, and why he'll persist to develop his strengths and work on his weaknesses. In a few years Mitchell might even become as good as some on this thread think he is now.

Scary thought given he is our number ONE ranked midfielder currently

I think it's no coincidence Parker has looked way better with Mitchell in the side doing the ugly scrapping tight around the contest.

If he frees up Parker to move forward or more into space (where his footwork is sublime as evidenced against Norf) he's worth his weight in gold.

If anything I think it's JPK's recent performance that warrant some scrutiny.
