Analysis Tom Mitchell

Yeah but inside mid is his best position. Shouldn't we play the best players for the best positions? Have him in the middle, or resting up forward to rove under Tippett. Or be a defensive forward. There is a spot for him in the side.

Kennedy is better as an inside mid. He needs to show he doesn't have to be in that position all the time

Parker will undoubtedly be extremely furious.guys like cunningham and towers have been given plenty of opportunity and havnt performed aswell as mitchell

Parker? Huh he is there mate lol

Why is Towers getting a game over Mitchell? Towers was spudding it up, even though Membrey was a better option and look how that turned out...

Maybe because he has earned it.

He has persevered after not setting the World on fire in his brief appearances last year and obviously worked on and improved the areas he needed to going by the positive output he displayed during the NAB. Last game last year when Naismith went down like a felled Californian Redwood Towers went into the Ruck for the remainder of the game even taking centre bounces against Maric. That Fortitude and Willingness to compete in doing his best for the Team when asked said to me right then that he deserved to be persisted with and given every opportunity to develop as mature age recruit and see what he could do. It is still questionable how good or effective he can be but make no mistake he has earned his spot thus far this year. The rest will be answered over the first couple of weeks.

If you think Mitchell has been hard done by missing out this week and last year as well and is best 22 don't worry from what I have been told so does he.

Mitchell is not a small forwards arseh*le , he should be in the centre or not play
How did you win Poster of the Year when you call people who have valid opinions an arseh*le? That's ironic. :drunk:

Mitchell has earned his spot from proven performances in actual AFL matches, Towers hasn't. That's why i'm annoyed he is in the team over Mitchell. If he can prove me wrong on Saturday, then i'll gladly eat my words.

This guy is the one who can really count himself very fortunate. Put the ball out in front of him and let him run on to it especially inside 50 and he is worth his weight in Gold. Other than that he is starving the majority of the time. Got a feeling he may be a favourite however. I know he is still young and hopefully he proves me wrong but at the moment he is quite fortunate. Him and Towers are similar in the fact they both have blistering speed and both rely heavily on their mate winning the footy and lacing out in front to them to be their most effective. There is room for that type of player in any 22 but not room for both. Suppose it will work itself out.

I.Smith for Hawthorn was very similar early on but finds plenty of his own ball now to add to the very similar attributes Cunningham and Towers both have.

They are completely different players but like I said Towers is still questionable and the proof will be in the pudding.

The hysteria over Tom Mitchell though is mind boggling as the kid is run of the mill. Mitchell Makes the Hype around
Flloyd Mayweather look like a gross exaggeration.

Please find me a player in another team who can't get a game but has better stats than Mitchell?

They are completely different players, but i'm not saying something stupid like replacing Laidler with Mitchell, because Mitchell has also rotated to the forward line in the past, so I would prefer Mitchell in a rotating role over having Towers in the side. That's all i'm saying.

It comes down to culture

Difficult to get rid of a player that wants to be there and is genuinely next inside mid in.

I think the people that suggest Parker moving out of inside MID in favour of Mitchell need a reality check.

Parker at every contest then spreading to create an aerial contest is what Parker was born to do, that much seems clear, and the elite qualities he brings will always be favoured for that role.

That, I agree with!

You're not going to create a spot in your team so that Tom Mitchell can fill it as an extracting MID that can't create havoc during transition.

Cmon no way craig bird is a better player than mitchell lets make it simple, drop him

Or forgo the pace of jetta and his 8 possies

Or drop shaw who cant hit the broad side of a barn

They can fit mitchell in

Look at the grand final. Our first team midfield is not nearly as good as a lot of people on this board think it is.
