In for Goodes or Cunningham

Just no.

Goodes is a utility, an Cunningham(although he needs to up his workrate) is one of the few we have with genuine leg speed. Our team is slow enough, we don't need to make it even slower. Goodes is your perfect sub.

Is our team actually slow? I kind of feel like we aren't, particularly.

Just looking at people that seem to be in the senior team mix: Cunningham, Rohan, Jetta, Towers, the Brothers Jack. Those guys are all properly quick.

Shaw's fading a bit, but he's still fast. McGlynn, too. And Rampe's no slouch either, is he?

Plus Franklin is very fast for a man his size.

I agree we're not slow at running across the ground. However we are slow at transitioning and ball movement. Sam Mitchell won't be winning any footraces but he plays very quick football. Effective, direct disposal is much faster than any sprinter - and that, more so than Smith and Hill, is why Hawthorn are so strong

Quick hands

Otherwise we may as well draft usain bolt or forest gump

I'll just leave these here

Ordered by the key inside midfield stats (2014) - combined contested possessions, clearances and tackles per minute (IE factoring in time on ground).

1) Josh Kennedy
2) Luke Parker
3) Tom Mitchell
4) Daniel Hannebery
5) Craig Bird
6) Kieren Jack
7) Jarrad McVeigh

Effective disposal percentage

1) Jarrad McVeigh 73%
2) Tom Mitchell 70.7%
3) Daniel Hannebery 70.6%
4) Craig Bird 69.2%
5) Luke Parker 68.7%
6) Ben McGlynn 66.3%
7+8) Kieren Jack and Josh Kennedy 64.7%

Disposal seems to be his weak point (lately). We already have a midfield of guys who miss targets too often. Work on that (and he will) and Tom will still be the champ we all know he can be. I've no doubt he'll see quite a bit of game time this year. Probably could have had a run on the wet ground on Saturday but I can only guess at the reasons. I don't buy any conspiracy theories. He's obviously got work to do to cement a spot. Swans have a record of making players earn their stripe.

Sorry, what I meant by lately is that in his last game he dropped mysteriously to 61% DE and to my eyes he looked like he wasn't quite as switched on as usual. Given that he was hitting 80+ in the games prior I can't help but wonder if something happened. I can't imagine he'd be singled out for one off game in three NAB challenges.

Did the reserves play last week??????????, I know NEAFL doesnt start till this week.

Mitchell was named as an emergency but due to wet weather surprised he wasnt picked.

I cant see him getting picked this week with benny and jarrard back, whens the last time the swans made 3 changes in a week...but i still think he is in best 22.

ALso WTF is going on with Jones???? I hoped that he could success Shaw, but he hasn;t been seen!!!!

you make a persuasive case.

I've put my views out there already. I'll be fascinated in next steps

I cannot believe that jones hasn't played and isn't on injury list. Its just a thought but in that article about him recently it said he would more than likely be playing with his brother next. Maybe he has said as much and has been banished to the two's for the remainder of season. I have no proof of this its just a thought.

That's the thing, imo. We have two places in the side for tough, inside mids. Kennedy, Parker and Mitchell all deserve that spot. Who gets it? Whilst Parker is a good mark, I think he is wasted in the HF line.

As an opposition supporter I just simply cannot believe that there is a player of that quality sitting outside your 22. He got cut down by injury and then the swans have just never given him another chance. That last round game vs us last year he was absolutely sensational and BOG by a mile. I know you need team balance ect but you can never have too many quality mids.

I would love for Richmond to go hard for him at the end of the year he is an absolute jet. Think his price tag would still be quite high trade wise. Longmire just must not rate him. Drafted him second round in my league last year...was a very long and frustrating year especially the week he got 56 touches in the 2's and didn't get picked. However he seemed to keep getting a niggle at the wrong time.

64 touches :(

In a purely hypothetical situation what would you trade for him? I would ask you to disregard the fact our selectors appear to think he is NEAFL level.

I am interested in a third parties unbiased view.

Jones has had Achilles problems during the pre season.
