Bruce, probably more for the injury thread but where did you hear that? Would explain why we've seen so little of him.Jones has had Achilles problems during the pre season.

Jones has had Achilles problems during the pre season.
Still would be better than Shaw in my view.
I have a real love/hate relationship with Shaw. I share all the frustrations but I do love it that when we are bogged down in defence he can always be relied upon to tuck it under his arm and get on his bike. I suspect that might be why he is tolerated.
And kick it out on the full

Think this is one the selectors have gotten wrong tbh, Mitchells defensive work is excellent, he would offer more than Reid has recently.
Can me insane but how about we play someone like Hewett for instance who kicks the ball well. Running HBF's are good value but they are worthless if they turn it over 1 in 2 kicks. Shaw make me fear for my television or makes me drink heavily! Just so many under 10 level errors.
You're insane.
McVeigh even if undone would be infinitely better than Hewett.
On Shaw he does burn it but cab defend.
and given that we still play a stoppage game, it makes sense to have a rotation of good ball winners and leave the outsde work to Hanners Jack and Jetta et al. Goodes is taking up a spot, never thought I'd say that, maybe Reid too, he can learn CHB in the ressiesWhich is so stupid given that clearances was a MASSIVE issue in the grand final and has been a big issue for the Swans for 2 years.
Okay, lets play Mitchell in defence or forward. Come on I usually need a laugh on Wednesdays, this may as well be it. Mitchell and his 5 foot frame standing up against a 6 foot 2 forward...
We are too tall currently anyway, Goodes opponent runs off him consistently against better teams, and Reid has been in-effectual at either end.
Mitchell in the FWD line would offer more than either of them.
a defensive forward needs to be quick, Mitchell should go into the idfield rotation or go elsewhere and come back to destroy usWe are too tall currently anyway, Goodes opponent runs off him consistently against better teams, and Reid has been in-effectual at either end.

64 touches
In a purely hypothetical situation what would you trade for him? I would ask you to disregard the fact our selectors appear to think he is NEAFL level.
I am interested in a third parties unbiased view.
I would trade our first round pick which the last two years has been pick 12.
Then play another forward, and we have a few of them in the reserves, you don't play Mitchell there, that is just ridiculous to say the least.
Have said it before McGlynn isn't good enough as a pure mid, should be that defensive forward.
His warrior attack on the ball last year was very important, especially in our early season funk
Not sure why it is ridiculous, Mitchell has not shown a massive ability to hit the scoreboard, but nor has he drifted around half forward much, but i think its worth consideration
I would rather a natural forward. Ideally a leadup forward, but since we gave away our leadup forward for a pack of chips...
