Analysis Tom Mitchell

I think the Mitchell selection was the response to Freo dominating the clearances and also mcglynns average form so I wouldn't have thought that'd be an option
Would have to agree there. Hopefully he puts in some good touches

The day is fining up and there has been shades of sunshine.

Does anyone think that a drier deck could prompt Longmire to withdraw Mitchell and bring in Mglynn to provide more speed and tackling pressure?

It's highly unusual for Longmire to play 4 extractors. He may revert to his usual 3 extractors (Bird, Kennedy and Parker) if the ground dries out before 2.10pm. The SCG does have the super sopper.

A late change like that would be cruel given Benny was dropped to find form

Also just left Manly and there's more rain coming across from there

They are a real banana skin the doggies, watched them beat the crows and they were clinical as well as hard. Will have to be at our best to beat them.

Mitchell was one of our best but we lost, so he'll be back in the NEAFL next week.

30 touches, which is great, except most were really shitty touches. I don't know what goes through his head when he puts boot to ball, but somehow he invariably kicks up-and-unders. I'm not suggesting send him back to the ressies, he's still a net positive, but he needs to learn how to actually kick the footy properly, or otherwise stick to handballing.

I have no idea what you have been smoking. Mitchell was really good with the ball today. He is great getting the ball out of packs.

Lead the entire ground for contested possessions. Do you think that's something notable in a wet weather game?

I agree with BB, kicking high balls to our forwards is not to our advantage. His handballs though are amazing. Maybe stick to handballs for the forseeable future

At least he is going something perhaps the other mids can take a look at themselves and do the same

By hand, absolutely. His kicking was horrific. One in particular comes to mind, he gathered the ball on the wing, plenty of time to launch it inside 50, and he skies it. Up-and-under that went 30 metres, max. It's like he panics whenever he has to kick the ball. It's really weird.

Overall a very good game from Tommy, I'd hate to think what would've happened if he wasn't in the middle today.

His intent was great, continually diving into packs.

Disposal at times can let him down, but with enough experience he'll add that polish.

Was a good inclusion imo
