Hmmm, funnily enough chatter about trading for Mitchell, usually with second/third round, had suddenly abated.
I can't believe that we would accept a 2nd round pick for him. He's certainly a first rounder. They were talking about him being a top 5 pick at the time he was drafted.

The media was because they were lazy. Carlton were the only club to table a offer and that was for a 2nd Round Pick just before Mitchell rejected being traded. No club offered such a pick.

Freo (Ross Lyon) bid their first round pick (no.20) on him so he should at least be a late first rounder given that he is past the development stage. Either that or we probably paid overs for him.

He is taking a break from our board.

In my short time on Swans Big Footy, I've really enjoyed reading Luke's analysis. Passionate people like Luke provide the ideas that makes this forum great. I hope he is on something like a Vegas Bucks Party and will be back soon. The pool parties of Vegas would keep anyone of their phones.

I agree, passion is what makes this board great. But passion gets the better of all of us at times. He'll be back soon.

The selection of Mitchell and the dropping of Bird confirms that Longmire will only play a maximum of three pure inside midfield extractors (Kennedy, Parker and Mitchell).

I don't think you will have both Bird and Mitchell at the club in 2016. I think one of them will be traded at seasons end.

Bird and Mitchell both have too much to offer the competition to play regular reserve football. Too much time in the reserves will also see them lose out on vital pay increases.

In that case

Hey lads... is T Mitch in your best 22 now?

well he is playing this week... so yes.

In many supporters minds has been for over a year, but with inside beasts Kennedy and Parker infront of him, his outside work needs to be better than a pure outside player, not an easy task, but he is getting there.

If he plays 10-15 games this year, wont be traded for chips.

Watching Tom Harley on AFL Game Day. He was specifically asked why Mitchell hasn't been able to get a game. He said that it was all about team balance and he specifically mentioned Kennedy and Parker. He didn't mention Bird.

Mitchell is clearly our 2nd best inside midfielder, much better than anyone else except Kennedy. He's probably top 10-15 inside midfielder in the AFL and will probably be close to no.1 in a few years.

Dropping him would be madness.

And all this from 73% TOG.

I think that's part of the reason why he's been held back, his fitness isn't where it needs to be to have maximum impact. However, he's not doing too bad given the questions over his fitness.

Mitchell stays imo, has a skill we were in desperate need of, we can shuffle the others to accommodate Mitchell in the midfield

Should also point out Mitchell had something like 83% disposal efficiency yesterday. Only Reid was higher and guys like Parker were way way lower.
Do you have the splits for kicking and handball efficiency
