Will he be able to hold his place if push comes to shove?
I don't think Horse is sold on him and I can see him getting dropped later in the year if he keeps turning it over by foot.

lol its probably true i doubt his place is secure, i just think his strengths to the side are there he taken a lot of pressure of Kennedy.

It is an interesting one. Parker seems to have thrived since Mitchell came in but JPK has only been so-so (for him anyway). Our clearances haven't really changed much, neither has tackling. For mine, if they play Mitchell all over the place then he has to improve his kicking a lot to hold his place, if they just play him in a Kirk type/pure inside role he has to stay.
 
Look at the club performance since Mitchell came in, he wont go anywhere, unless Horse flips his lid.

His turnovers and poor kicking are exaggerated by the detractors on here at times

You are forgetting one very important point, Mitchell, like Bird before him, is the obvious fall guy. They won't be dropping JPK or Parker before Mitchell. That puts him in the unfortunate position of being the prime candidate to be scapegoat (should our midfield get smashed).

Nah midfield gets smashed with the current side its blokes like lloyd, robinson, cunningham who are first to be booted

If tom loses form then for sure

But right now he is arguably the best performed mid in the side since his inclusion

If anything Mitchell is either not mentioned or is questioned by an odd minority

Luke parker is a jet, but he is woeful by foot worse than Mitchell

I am not questioning Mitchell's place, he has earned it and at this point deserves to keep it.
As Eddie would say, BUT....the reality is he is not a lock and has deficiences (which all players do).

I csnt fault hus form. Yer his footskills are below average but with experience ge will learn to use his strengths and how to be most effective.

The fact we are so critical on a guy yet to play close to 50 games shows how highly he is rated. You need to look past his very strong stats and remember he is still a young kid finding his way in the game.

If he was a rookie listed player,people would be salivating over him
 
I can't believe people are still questioning his place. He is generally a shit kick, I've been the first to criticise him for that, but that doesn't mean he's not about as close to a lock as you can get. He's a gun, and even better he's got very clear room for improvement.

The same argument was made when it was suggested that Bird would be dropped.
If you think Mitchell is a lock you are going to be mighty disappointed if he gets dropped again. IMO, he is clearly not a lock because he is not fighting for a spot with Lloyd and co he is fighting for a spot with JPK/Parker/Bird.
