We now have a Triplett of Fonzies

You're still missing my mentor - this board's Fonzie of Fonzies.

The only clue I'll give you is a paraphrasing of my favourite Fonzie line on this board.

Look, the conversation has moved on from there.

You are most definitely wrong, and thank goodness you are.

Oh, so Phillips has never had games with lots of very poor disposal, wasn't ever fumbly under pressure, wasn't ever poor defensively... well there you go, not sure what I was watching then...

If that was the case then I'll happily admit I was wrong but all of us know that isn't the reality.

I've already admitted I never liked him to begin with.

But I also said he's definitely growing on me.

If he can find a way to improve both his disposal and decision making, he'll become a genuinely great player.

Another clue please?

The poster in question may be offended, so I'm not going to get any less obscure. You're usually all over Fonzies like a 1950s schoolgirl, so I reckon you'll work it out. Just look out for the tactic below. It's the new Heeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy:

The conversation has moved on. No point in rehashing old ground.

More than he has already you mean. You make it sound like Phillips 2018 is identical to Phillips 2017...

Um...no

All I said was improve.

I didn't say his disposal or decision making was shit. That's how you chose to interpret my post.

I would have figured that my saying "He's grown on me" would suggest he's improved on last year? If I didn't like him at first and I thought he hadn't improved since last year, then how would he grow on me?

I couldn't really fault his disposal last week and he certainly knows where the sticks are in terms of kicking majors.

Some of us have a little more patience, and understand that development takes time. Others like to focus on the negatives.

I think even you would admit that Philips' improvement has been quite extraordinary to the average player.

This.

Maynard, Phillips, Cox,
Even veterans like Varcoe.
So much maligned.
And as if every drafted player comes in and performs to perfection right off the bat.

Don't agree.
Think it's just been a gradual improvement with game time.
I get the feeling people are looking to him differently now the experts are putting a glowing spotlight on him.

Phillips is extraordinarily but it’s not a miracle. Just the result of hard work and steady improvement.

I think sometimes people forget it takes time to develop. Consistency and a good block of games in a defined role and good tutelage.

Yeah, clearly I've got form....

or maybe not.... o_O

Criticism was valid, you can choose to try and paint that any way you like, but it doesn't change the facts. Much like his form over recent weeks doesn't expunge the cause of such criticism.

Just because a player improves doesn’t mean that former criticisms of their game weren’t valid.

It’s great that Phillips is rapidly improving his poise with ball in hand, but if you say you didn’t have your heart in your mouth every time he got the ball at this time last year then you’re a goddamn liar.

CFC2010 not my mentor though.
I definitely agree with the first paragraph, but think that Phillips' ball use and composure has always been harshly viewed. He's always showed moments of calm and awareness amongst moments of being rushed and panicked. It was standard talented youngster ball use. If he was a highly rated kid, we would have just said that he needed time to adjust to the pace, which was the reality.

I think his improvement this year has been phenomenal.

Not getting the kudos that he deserves IMO. His two way running is a joy to watch live.

Hopefully he can keep going for the rest of the year and keep getting the Kudos.

Good chance to make the AA squad of 40 and if he somehow made the final 22 would be wrapped.

Always thought a team needs at least 2 In the AA side to really signify their rise into finals. With Grundy being our best shot and Howe/Treloar in considerations; it speaks volumes when someone like Phillips are in talks as well.

In my mind our AA chances at this stage:

Grundy: If picked today would be a certainty.
Howe/Crisp: Serious contenders
Sidebottom: Chance
Treloar, Pendles, Phillips: Outside chance
