I'm sure that the Silvagni family believe he is innocent. So I don't see them as rape apologists.

I haven't seen all the evidence, but I've got no reason to believe the jury didn't get it right. Perhaps they will change their minds over time. The parents are in a horrific no win situation. They should have just issued a generic "we support our son" statement. Saying they believe in their son's innocence by default means they are callin the victim a liar.

Tom is clearly a narcissist. Could have admitted he was at fault and gone about trying to heal the damage he'd done, apologise, work on himself and try to become a better person, accept the consequences of his actions whatever they may be.

Instead he drags the poor victim further through the mud and brings his whole family along for the ride.

Now he's dug himself in so deeply with his lies he probably feels he has no choice but to keep digging.

Can understand that from him, but surprising that his parents are going to burn further hundreds of gorillas on his inability to accept responsibility for his wrongdoing.

The girlfriend did testify that the ex-best friend/guy who slept with the victim came into the room Tom and her were in and asked for a condom, as in he was still in the house and didn't leave when he said he did.

So she lied on the stand as well.

For the record , he's been found guilty and I'm satisfied with that but I'm reading a lot about the Uber receipt aspect leading to damning evidence of guilt but there is scenario where there could be a plausible reason for tampering with it. She accuses him of rape, he panics and tries to cover his ass out of sheer fear of where it could go. I dont buy into this being definitive proof of wrongdoing. People panic and do stupid things under pressure. Anyhow, just another way of looking at it, as I said, I'm happy he has been found guilty but there is more to it than just the uber receipt.

The uber receipt wasn't him making one for himself, he tried to doctor his mate's to show the mate was at the house longer. Basically saying his mate r*ped the victim instead of him.

He texted his mate asking for his receipt and edited it to show the mate left at 2:47 or around that time. Then sent it back to him and said just say you left later.

The mate left just before 2am and was home by 2:09am.

In addition the defense is already pushing the good family, good home, good rehabilitation prospects.

They’ll be pushing for some sort of non custodial sentence and frankly it wouldn’t shock me if it went that way.

Judges seem to think that any sort of circumstance is ground for lenient sentencing now. Good home, good rehabilitation prospects, no jail time, bad home and upbringing, never stood a chance, no jail time.

I hope I’m wrong.

It’s going to be a prison sentence. He was placed in custody after the conviction last week and the judge said a prison sentence was inevitable.

Notwithstanding the crime he has committed, I think the best place for him at the moment would be prison. I think if he was released he might do the unthinkable. 2 days on the front page of the paper, social media etc I would probably do the same.

Whilst I don’t agree at all with the sentiment of his actions being in panic not covering up, it’s also a bit moot, it’s not the only evidence (clearly) as you note at the end. If there is a literal mountain of it (which there generally has to be to get a conviction in a rape case) then it’s pretty pointless to pick pretty outrageous holes in one bit.
