Love Stew and all he's accomplished, but, he ain't touching Enright. Still got a few years left, but I think we've seen his peak - given Zach Guthrie has pretty much taken over his role, and is performing it to aplomb. Enright was winning AA's in his final season at 34 years old.
Enright -
6 x AA
3 x Premierships
2 x B+F (both in Premiership years)
Stewart -
5 x AA
1 x Premiership
2 x B+F (neither in his Premiership year)
Pretty crazy either way to think that the seamless handover from 44 to 44, has netted a total of 4 flags, 11 AA's and 4 B+F's - could be our most successful number ever.
Going on those stats alone it is very hard not to give Stewart the edge given he has achieved pretty much the same in half the time
No current season stats available
Was there someone between Bruce Doull and Ben Hart? There’s a gap between their careers.Enright easily
along with Ben hart best medium defenders of the afl era.
Agility,Reach and very skilful
Enright. He probably wasn't as flashy as Stewart or as noticeable, and a bit more of a quiet achiever, but he was just a pencilled in elite player on the team list for a long time.
It's also hard to fault Stewart, but if you have to make a call between two greats, I'd lean Enright. He was a huge part of that Cats era which is probably the best team they've produced across a 3-5 year period.

Sold me. Andrew mackie better then gary ablett snr. 3 flags to zero. With the way the game is played today Stewart is far more valuable to a team that's just my opinion, but if you compare careers Enright wins hands down he has 3x flags v 1.
You aint serious with ben hart? He wasnt even the best flanker in his own side. Nigel smart a better footballer. As was andrew mccleod. As was simon goodwin.Enright easily
along with Ben hart best medium defenders of the afl era.

I didn’t say he was a flanker I said medium size defender. You aint serious with ben hart? He wasnt even the best flanker in his own side. Nigel smart a better footballer. As was andrew mccleod. As was simon goodwin.
Best half back flankers ive seen are stewart, enright, mcleod. Mckay, archer, worsfold.
Likes of brendan goddard and nathan buckley would make it if they played enough games there.
on no i havent fallen into a silly height argument have i. Enright played on smalls like jeff farmer and cyril rioli and had more in common with s.goodwin then hart. and hart played on medium marking fowards like gary ablett. Hart far more like smart then enright. And smart was better than hart. As was goodwin better than hart.I didn’t say he was a flanker I said medium size defender.
Ben hart was AA back pocket in his first 2 years of football as an 18,19 yr old.
(92,93)
He won two flags as back pocket in
(97,98)
He then got another 2 AA in back pocket along with BNFs in
(99,02)
Enright (187cm) Hart (188cm)
Could play tall, small, attack and defend.
Both amazing defenders
(300+ games)
like I said the best medium defenders I have seen with my eyes in the AFL era
