If we select McKernan I'll honestly have to just shake me head in disgust. I know the whole 'I don't know as much as recruiters' crap, but he's restricted purely to a KP forward role in AFl. It's the only place he'll make it.

If he slipped to pick 29, I'd even be hesitant then. Shoenmakers is better than McKernan imo.

Hine has already stated he will take best available with 11 then look for need at 29 and above

I've seen a bit of McKernan.. you won't be disappointed if it falls that way

In the end you can't afford to pass up a gun KP if only dud mids are left

I'm pretty sure there wont be only dud mids left at 11, no matter which way the draft goes.

If Dawes is still a couple of years away from being over his injury, and he still manages to kick goals in the AFL, he'll be worth the wait.

Bloody oath. I still reckon he lacks fitness and mobility. It takes a couple of preseasons at least to recover that. Looking forward to a decent 2009 and a massive 2010. Until then, fingers crossed that the injury does not re-occur.

I must admit that Swift is the one I want at pick 11.

I'm trying not to get too excited though as we know what Hine is like. I don't want to get my heart set on any one player as I will only be disappointed next Saturday if we choose another.

Unfortunately that ship may have sailed. He looks the goods doesn't he.

Same here Don't want to get set on a Player then be Disspointed on draft day but everything points to Swift, Unless Voss pulls a Shifty or North takes that risk

Don't be surprised if North take the player we want in Swift and we take the player some mocks have going to them.. Mckernan
I would not mind McKernan he was my Early Favorite for Pick 11

McKernan is a tweener ruck / kpp. His pace will be questionable at Kpp and his unlikely to ever be tall enough to be a main stay ruck. I wouldn't be drafting him in the first round as either a Kpp or a ruck prospect but it is his versatility that has him talked up.

I see McKernan as a KPP and not a Ruck and I doubt AFL Recurter either and His speed was good in testing and did not look slow in games.

Dave. I have to make sure you understand something as I know you have massive man love for Dawes and appear to have similar man love for McKernan.

If McKernan is drafted by Collingwood there is almost 0 chance both he and Dawes will make it in the same team. It will be Cloke and one of Dawes / McKernan as well as a guy like Rus, Reid, Anthony or even Medhurst or Maccaffer who will play a more lead up role then key target role

Don't you see McKernan coming a Backman which I reckon he is Capable of.

I like McKernan as I say but I would rather Other players ahead of McKernan, I was just saying that I would not crack it like other people have said they would

Highly doubt it. I think his pace off the mark will cost him and he'd be beaten on the lead too easily and oftne.

Here is Tom Swift in action.. Does remind you have a young Judd.

Loved the ending when Swift gets the ball out of the pack and snaps a goal and the commentators ark up saying "BOG" lol.

I WANT SWIFT!! :D

We are still "carrying" Dawes who is a couple of years away from being 100% fully over his injury. Until then there is still a risk of recurrence.

We are also carrying Dick and Rusling.

I dont know anything about Swift -I'll leave that for others - but I do think its a massive risk to draft an injured player, especially when you already have a few youngsters on your list recovering from serious injury.

Swift has no concerns mate. If u had seen him in the draft camp going nuts and hammering his knees u would have been smiling and hopeing the Pies r watching. :thumbsu:

sorry if this has been answered but ... is he currently injured or over it?
Over it he tested and tested very well at draft camp, apparntly (a more avid draft watcher will correct is wrong) but he could of played the last few rounds of WAFL seasons but they decided to let him rest just in case

i am really hoping we get swift or sidebottom that would be awesome ,but when i went and watched the carnival another player stood out to me also hes name is mitch banner

showed highlights of his testing at the draft camp and he was doing shuttle runs on a basketball court and going flat out. If his knees were dodgy they would have gone on him then as they did to a mate of mine.

on the afl homepage there is an article about him ,interesting to see that swift is a collingwood supporter

He was third in vertical jump behind 2 rucks Naitanui and McKernan.
Fifth 20 mtr sprint.
Equal sixth beep test.

Also on that video he fell down because he tried that hard:thumbsu:
