Interesting to Read that Jason McCartney thinks he is just as good as Rich:

“Tommy will be a really interesting one come draft day because he was in our AIS/AFL Academy last year and Daniel Rich was in that side at the time and I believe there wasn't much difference between the two of them,” McCartney said.

im getting excited :D , but i hope we get him or ill be pissed off

Just don't get to Attached to a single player pre-draft and you should be okay

showed highlights of his testing at the draft camp and he was doing shuttle runs on a basketball court and going flat out. If his knees were dodgy they would have gone on him then as they did to a mate of mine.

Yeah right, cos the beep test on a flat court in sneakers is similar to AFL pace and pressure and twisting and turning in footy boots with stops.

Your mate's knee must be really stuffed cos beep test pressure is not even close to AFL game day.

Means pretty much nothing

I can't help it. I've got my hopes sky high for Swift now. He sounds like the potential superstar we've been dying for.

He's slowly stealing my love away from Steele :(

on the afl homepage there is an article about him ,interesting to see that swift is a collingwood supporter

Now that is news to me and makes me feel very very nice :D

im guessing u havent done shuttle runs on basketball courts before. The surface may be flat but its rock hard and impacts ur knees more then doing it on grass. Anyone can do a knee on grass if the foot lands in a pot hole or whatever.
Clearly AFL game day is completely different. Look at Bucks, he could get through training with him hammie but then in a match situation his leg couldnt handle it. I do however think match conditions isnt that much of a issue when it comes to knees compared to soft tissue injuries.

yes hine said that he will pick best available at 11.
but....
there is a fair chance he thinks swift could be the gun we're all claiming him to be on bf.

i want him at the pies and the fact he is a pies supporter and (correct me if im wrong) worked with us for a while under the ais/afl scholarship scheme makes it sound better.

Conspirecy Theory: he has trained with us before and the was an absolute gun 2 years ago, then was available to play the last month or so in the wafl this year but Hine tells him to sit it out in order to generate more ???? about his ability to recover from his setbacks and in turn sliding him down the draft order to pick 11.

i like the sound of this

i really do want Swift, he seems perfect, and also has massive leadership potential

Yet i wont be devestated if we dont get him, cause then we will most likely land Sidebottom (yeah remember him, how everyone was crazy for him 2 months ago lol)

I'm more keen to see who we get at 29 right now.

Obviously I will wet my pants if we get Swift (IMO he will be available at 11), but if we don't I'll move on and start talking up the player we got.

29 is probably more important, because in this draft you pretty much guaranteed a good player at 11 (counting out injury), but if someone slips to 29 like Rhys O'Keefe, Jordan Lisle, Ryan Schoenmakers or Dayne Beams I will need new pants.

These things are possible too

He's sounding almost a little too good to slip to 11. Those draft stats are pretty impressive. Eddie should make him start hobbling around and get some channel nine paparrazo to take some 'secret' snaps - should throw them off the scent.

It's only because the 10 blokes in front of him are so good.

Any other draft and he would still go top 10.

We are not guaranteed a good player at 11. Look through every draft and there are a number of players in the first round who have not really made a big impact, some have not played at all(danny roach, chris egan anyone) Even in the so called super draft there are a few first rounders who now have massive question marks. There are not certainties in the draft.

I'm trying to be positive here.

What I'm suggesting is that if we can find a good footballer at 29 it is as important, if not more, than finding a good player at 11.

the thing is, he isn't perfect. far from it. even if he knees work out, it's so long since he's played well. i mean, we still talk about lee walker. i don't want another lee walker. i just hope if we take him, and heaven forbid the injuries get the better of him, nobody bags the club, because i feel like the only one who isn't that overly happy about taking him right now. this draft is partucularily strong with some good names destined to fall to us. i don't want to get nothing out of it.

Unfortunately i can feel myself being swayed to wanting him, when I told myself I would come in with no hopes this year, just faith in Hine. I just don't think Hine will pick him.
BTW I don't think he barracks for Collingwood and that only started because Dave The Man misinterpreted a comment on his SEN radio interview.

Does Dave The Man write news articles for afl.com.au?

Just read that article and looks like he does! My apologies , and no wonder that he's such a bright kid. I assumed he'd be a West Coast/Freo supporter , and Emma Q had put words in his mouth when he'd hung up from that interview the other day as a convenient joke.
**** , now I'm more keen.
Must just let Derek do his thing and have faith.

My bet is he wil be long gone before us. I no nothing about any of the draftees but I've read alot of hype about him and if his that good he will go early. Injurys have recovered like Judd and Selwood so he'l be picked earlier.
