Lets not forget all the Masten bashing that went on and try not to make the same mistake with Swift.

Masten usage of the footy has got much better with game time and experience.
And we all know Tom Swift will be the same.
Definately keep in him in the side and allow him the experience he needs and then watch the Masten, Swift combo dominate the AFL!!!!

If Swift ends up as good as Pendlebury we would all be very happy. Pendlebury is quite possibly my favourite young midfielder at another club.

Its not a direct positional switch. Butler has been severly disappointing. I didn't mind him getting game time to try and get some form but he has been terrible at best this year.

Swift is a stoppage machine and massive accumulator. Just needs the muscle and fitness to go at it at AFL level. Disposal, decision making will come with the size. Look at Hurn and Glass and the way they can burst through people. Pretty much same arguments from the Masten debate and look at him now.. he's starting to come good.

Swift was lined up on Hill.

Got the ball ALOT more than Hill, and is as fast, if not quicker (being at the game, saw him run 20m to catch up to Hill on the wing).

Thanks - he looked very fast at times on TV. Stats aside - real pace is something we lack big time. The more confidence he gets the more he will run. This is what we lack in bringing the ball into our 50 fast to give our fowards a chance. Perservere with him.

Swift- don't see nothing in him yet- nothing at all- Adam Cockie's better.
but Houlihan showed signs.
Don't know why Swift stayed in side and Cockie was ommited.

How do you expect Swift to find his feet and pick up the tempo of AFL footy if he's not playing.
Swift obviously has the ability because we've seen it by his results at WAFL level.
While we're rebuilding and down the bottom of the ladder, we need to persist with our youngsters, even after ordinary games. Those performances are to be expected of young players, especially given Swift's circumstance.

Swift is a 191cm inside midfielder with dash. Once hes up and running he does a similar amount of grunt work and linking up as J.Selwood, only Swifts got 10cm on Joel and a host of other advantages in speed and vertical leap.
He'll take a little longer but he's very strong, when four 90kilo Geelong midfielders cant take you to the ground dodgey knees and all you get a picture of how strong he is.

The quicker get A.Selwood and Embley out of the center square the better.

I think Swift is nervous about playing on the big stage, and he's worried about making mistakes which is why he's fumbling etc. When he gets more composed and confident everyone will be jumping on the Swift Bandwagon.
Masten has a lot more composure now but that's taken a good 15 games to get that way. He doesn't seem to be falling over as much anymore either. When his groin comes good he will be our next Cousins.

Each time Ive seen Swift he seems unco and nervous.

I guess time will see him through.

Hope he turns into a good player.

Main board rounds 1-5 and the numerous threads about S.Hill, declared a hack very early.
