He's KPP height and lost 2 years worth of footy during a time where players really come on and improve.

Considering most players around his height take a long time to come on, he has plenty of time. We're just all impatient but just give him time, as he'll definitely be worth the wait.

He's also been the emergency the last 3 weeks so he's pretty close. His form the first round of the NAB cup was pretty electric.

I don't mind Swift and I hope to hell that he wins 12 Brownlows for us, but I hate how much leeway he gets compared to other players.

Ideally I'd like for all of our youngster to get the same treatment as Swift gets but Masten, Ebert and Co. have been written off a thousand times while Swift, who's done less than most of them, is still our great hope... Strange.

Spot on, has had a lot go against him in the last 5 years or so, we should all be patient. Some players just take longer than others to hit their straps. Based on what he's shown us, mostly in 2009 he will be great in the long term.

His first two WAFL matches were great, picked up around 30 touches in them both and was in the best. Last week was the travelling emergency to Adelaide and is emergency again this week which suggests he's close.

Leeway? He spends a lot of time in the WAFL and Woosh doesn't give him a crack at AFL level until he puts three or four good performances in a row in at WAFL level.

He cops slack from most people on this board, especially for his disposal and decision making (in the year we got the Spoon so I'm not sure he was getting a lot of support from the rest of the midfield)

The reason he is considered a great hope is due to what we've seen him do at his best, Richmond and Essendon in 09 and basically everything at a junior level. If he can regain that, and I think we saw it against the Hawks in pre-season, then he'll be great. I think if he got a go in our midfield the way they're playing right now he'd look a heap better than last season.

I would love to see him and Koby Stevens in our current midfield instead of one of our talls and one of McGinnity or Adam Selwood.

I think he's copped less than a lot of our youngsters and reading this thread I get the impression that he's rated higher than guys who are ahead of him in the selection process.

It probably comes down to Swift being hidden in the WAFL while Masten and co. have had to earn their stripes playing for West Coast, which hasn't been easy for them.

Allot has been said of Swifts 2010 season and very little is known, we have a little infomation he had injury problems and was sick. Deemed right to play isnt a declaration of his true fitness.

Masten and Ebert have had there own on going problems, it's no surprise that scooter then Ebert have come on the most. Ironically because Masten and Swift have more potential.

he has shown glimpses of some amazing play, and strung together a couple of good games, including one BOG blinder

and hes twenty years old

even if he hadnt spent years out of the game, or wasnt a high draft pick, he would be worth persevering with.

there are elements to his game that he needs to work on, like all players of his age, but he has plenty of time.

will he look for a trade!?!?! hes TWENTY!

due to his height and rawness, i think swift should be treated like a KPP in terms of early expectations. i still think he's far from his peak strength, we've got to give these guys time.

you can see with players like s.selwood/shuey that they're much stronger than they once were. it allows them to be confident in the contested situations.

swifty is just not big enough to break through those tackles and burst away, he'll do it on occasions but not consistently.

he's got a lot to work on, but he's only a 3rd year player.

he's no where near being trade bait. as if we were going to draft a long term player and trade him after 3 seasons...we place too much expectation on these guys, i suppose impatience comes with being a pretty crap team.

nah the extra 2cms of neck length makes him 191cm and thus a KPP.

he's going to be jumping in and spoiling marks with his neck.

I think technically he's 190/191, but that's mostly because of his neck (I'm being serious when I say this). For all intents and purposes he's really more around 188.

His an Embley type player. Unfortunately we cant fit two Embley types in the 22. Once Embers goes we can hopefully see more of Swift and his swiftly subtle angles off a wing. Think his confidence is being shot running around with the Tigers when really McGinnity should be doing that.

The versailty of Swift is a definate asset but. Might not have the height for CHF but could easily be a future lead up HFF because his engine and running capacity is perfect for that

Trade bait... Possibly. Throw his name out and see who bites. Could be a GWS18 prospect?

From all reports he has really been sticking his neck out both on and off the field for this footy club, and was only pipped by a short neck in gaining selection for the last 2 games.

Yeah, I hear him and Stevens are neck and neck in the race for selection.

I dont think he has the swingman and aerial capabilites of Embers, I think hes more of a genuine midfielder, possibly why his changing body shape, and apparently neck, is messing with his game a bit.

he's more of a contested player, where embers is just a pure outside runner.

He looked pretty good in the pre season game against the pies. Was pretty average in the WAFL GF though. Not sure what to expect from him now as he should really be dominating at WAFL level and isn't. I can't see him becoming a star but have hopes he will somehow get some form back. Although he's given us a couple of teasers like the Richmond game so there's something there.
Hard not to contradict yourself when talking about Swifty.

He'll make it for sure and with his height will prove a valuable commodity down the track. I'm not sure he will ever be a star but even if he is only a Joel Corey clone that is good enough.
I hope so, I just can't see where he'll fit in the team.
