Sad state of affairs is when post counts are used to determine a sad state of affairs :p
It is a sad state of affairs, but I'm feeling the extra love for Tommy Temay already, mind you neither Temay or Graham are in the league of the Menzinator, whose thread already has in excess of 250 posts.

It is a sad state of affairs when a thread on our 3rd round draft pick is receiving 2 posts for every post in this thread. Come on everyone, get around Tom Temay.

Pfftt...he's not going to read them anyway. Hasn't stopped running laps since we read his name out. Dedicated is young Temay...all sausage, no sizzle.

The real question is - do you guys think Tom Temay will join the select club of players who are referred to by their first and last name all the time? (like Nic Naitanui)

That is the real question, in fact it is the only decent question I can think of about our new draftee :p

Frazer Dale's body :)
It's not the body I'm worried about, its the pimply face of what looks like a child in his early teens. I guess young Tom won't be taking part in Movember in the foreseeable future. Actually it might work in his favour. The opposition might think he is a team mascot & not bother manning him up.

They all look younger to me these days. One of the boys Essendon picked up looks barely older than 10 or 12 :o

Temay, 18, is a running defender who can push into the midfield. He has an insatiable appetite for the football as well - he averaged 18.8 disposals with Vic Metro at 77 per cent efficiency.
He and his family were on the couch together as AFL chief Andrew Demetriou and club recruiting officers counted down the picks.
When Carlton announced it would take him at pick 35, Temay breathed a sigh of relief.
"I was relieved when my name was called out," he said. "It was a pretty special moment for the family. We had a massive hug, shed a few tears, it was very exciting."
Father Paul, who played 52 games for St Kilda - not enough for Temay to qualify as a Saint under the father-son rule - said it was a very emotional moment
"We're so proud that Tom gets an opportunity to fulfil his dreams at an AFL club, particularly at such a proud club like Carlton," he said.
Sister Molly was overjoyed too. "I was really emotional," she said. "We're really close and it's all we talk about sometimes, especially in the last few years when he started doing well in footy and it started getting serious. I'm so excited for Tom."
For mother Sara it was the reward for a lot of football over the years.
"I can't quite remember not taking him to football," she said.
"You hope for the best and there are no guarantees so hearing his name was a very exciting moment.
"We would have been happy for him to go to any AFL club but there's a small part of me that is thrilled to bits he'll be playing in Melbourne."
Dragons football manager Luke O'Brien said it was good to see two of their players get drafted.
"It's a great result," he said. "Tom is an elite run-with player who could become a very good AFL midfielder."

Ex-SMJFL AFL Draftee: Tom Temay

“(Tom’s) probably the most professional player we’ve had go through our program in the last couple of years, mainly from the preparation side of things, recovery and looking after himself,” he said.

“Over the pre-season last year he was just fantastic in the way he applied himself and did everything we asked,” he said. “He’s just one of these kids who constantly seeks feedback on his game, so he’s always looking to improve.”

I can really see Temay stepping into a small defender role next year. Usually the biggest problem for the transition to AFL is endurance and Tom's already a champion runner. His competitive edge and athleticism could see him get early games, especially under a new coach should he impress

I hope the form of experienced players stops us from blooding the new players, but it's exciting to hear the Dragons' footy manager call Temay a beautiful kick.

The Sandringham coaches started Tom in defence once again in 2012. The goals were to improve those defensive aspects of his game and also to make use of his offensive weapons – his running ability and “beautiful kick”, according to O’Brien.

Possibly a similar player to Pittard who was on our radar three years?

Brave player...
