There are a few scattered discussions around the forum debating whether Tom Williams should be used as a CHF next year?
Personally, I think it's very unlikely for Tom to go anywhere near a permanent forward position anytime soon. To play as a CHF forward you need to have an innate sense for the game, most forward thrusts go through a CHF and he needs to be directing the flow of the game and reading the play before it happens.
The above attributes cannot be expected of somebody with a handful of games to his name, no matter how tall and fast he is.
As a CHB Tom can use all of his physical atrributes to chase CHF'sr around, this will have the added effect of teaching him about reading the game and learning from natural forwards and how they resond to certain situations.
Tom is naturally quick and unbelievably strong which makes him a perfect mould for a CHB, he doesn't need to have great reading of the game as his opponent will lead him to the ball.
Will Minson is a perfect example of a player who hasn't got a natural instinct for the game and this shows in the forward line as he constantly gets in the way and simply doesn't know when to lead.
Tom Williams is the key piece to our backline puzzle. He allows a domino effect to take place which frees up all our defenders to play at their correct weight division and so you will never see Morris line up on a Franklin ever again. Whilst Morris has been great on the bigger defenders, I'd prefer him to be lining up on the dangerous mid/small forwards who seem to always slip under our guard.
I have great confidence in Tom doing the business at CHB, he hasn't natural football nouce to be a CHF and it's wishful thinking at best to expect him to hold down the most important role in our forward line.
