Assuming he's not a troll (yet to be established) M.Hulot is entitled to his opinion here. However he gives away what's really irritating him in his last sentence.
Yojimbo has hit the nail on the head. It's the size of the contract.
It's understandable that it clouds thinking but most of us have (finally) moved past the size of the contract when considering whether TBoyd will be any good and how he can get there.
So will he never make it as a player, as M.Hulot is suggesting?
Try putting him on the market at $350k p.a. and see if there are any takers. I reckon you'd get about a dozen clubs jostling to get to the front of the queue.
The size of the contract is always going to be an important issue but it needs to be separated from discussion of whether Tom Boyd will be a good footballer or not.
And as for how much players get relative to your average worker, well the whole AFL player market is an obscenity in that regard. That's not Tom Boyd's fault, it's due to the popularity of the game and the fanaticism of the supporters. But that's a separate discussion...
