Tommy Walsh

Height 195cm
Weight 97kg
DOB 26/02/88

With no real news about anyone besides Maric and McGuane this popped up as a possible trade in the age this morning.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/three-gun-for-saint-tommy-20111012-1ll88.html

Is on the Saints Rookie list. Looks like he's showed a bit in a few VFL games this year, and kicked 6 against the pies. He's a good size and the right age for a KPP to start hitting his straps.

Anyone seen him play, is he still learning the game?

Does he have any connection to Heslin or O'Reilly that would help steer the big fella our way?

What would we need to offer the Saints?

I really wouldn't know his skillset, but I quite like the idea. Can he mark and kick etc?

As ever, cost would be a major factor

A fine size, definitely.

At least one bloke on the comments reckons he won't be renewing his membership if they trade him. No mention of it on the Saints board yet.

Right outta left field this one.

A bit odd we have been linked to both this guy and butcher. Seems they either don't rate one of Griff, Post and Astbury or they want Vicks to be a Ruckman long term or my personal preference is they want Griff to go to CHB and still have 3 big men forward (still means they likely drop post or Astbury long term)

at a young age walsh was seen as the wayne carey of gaelic football. he would be one of the best athletes at the st kilda fc. if he put his mind to it he could play any sport he chose. he's on par with riewoldt in that respect.

us st kilda fans were ripping our hair out because ross lyon wouldn't give him a game all year despite finishing top 3 in the reserves b & f. that's ross' way.

this guy will be an absolute weapon and i sure as hell hope we don't lose him. and he's got a cool haircut - you could set your watch to it.

never seen him play, i doubt any of us have.

Wouldn't want to offer much for him - is he out of contract? We might be able to get him by just offering cash or a cheap back up player considering the saints salary cap issues

anyone know if the saints got fined for their breach? We got a $10k fine for admin errors, surely they are to be fined for their infraction

Got a feeling that it'll come back to haunt us if we don't make big play for this kid while he's still unknown. Could be anything, top 3 in the B&F, a bag against the Pie's VFL side, great size, right age, and been held back behind the Saint's elite KPPs.

Would straight swap for Morton, McGuane, Connors or Nason. Even throw in a r3 as well.

Just got a feelin.........and when and if the cat comes outta the bag, he'll then be way out of reach.

i doubt st kilda will let him go unless an extraordinary offer is put on the table. certainly not for a fringe tigers player or a third round draft pick. this guys suppose to be the next big thing but we don't know coz ross lyon refused to play him.
