And speaking of Kerry O'Keeffe, I am told that he had an interesting exchange over the summer on ABC radio with his co-commentator Tim Lane. As Sri Lankan fast bowler Dilhara Fernando was vigorously questioning the umpire's no-ball decision against him, and the man in the white coat was gently but firmly making reply, Lane asked O'Keeffe what he thought the umpire might be saying.

O'Keeffe, deadpan: "I think he might be saying, 'If I had to do the same again, I would my friend, Fernando'." (Would older readers please explain this reference to the younger ones? Thank you.)

There's nothing better than turning down the sound on the Teev, and switching on the Radio for the cricket, except sitting on the hill at Adelaide with the trans in the ear of course!

No it's not you, he is goddam annoying.

I think if we try hard we could name all of his comments, he only has about 10 in his repertoire.

1. There's a big appeal, and he's gone
2. There's a sweeper out there

i'd tend to agree. However, I think he's excellent on the radio. He has the odd slot on Sports Tonight on 3AW and I reckon he's insightful. On tv, well i recall that 12th man album. :D

I fondly remember Max Walker - did he have a falling out with the chappelli mafia ? Damien Fleming's pretty good ... and even Thommo.

Ahh...you should have heard Kerry during the 5th just gone i think it was when Steve Waugh was making that great 100. He was telling Steve to "lose himself in the moment" and then started rapping Eminem's "Lose Yourself"...

It was singlehandedly the funniest thing ive ever heard when listening to cricket. :D
 
Kerry O'Keeffe is an absolute legend, the commentary of the Ashes with Tim Lane, Jim Maxwell, Jonathon Agnew and co was second to none.

Back to Tony: what about when he gets excited but just repeats himself, or only changes a couple of words around

"What a catch, What-a-catch!.. Mork Waugh.. That's an unbelievable catch, what-a-catch!"

It was in Adelaide and they showed a couple getting married, Aussie male with an Asian bride, in comes Tony across the airways "Another mailorder bride" Bill Lawry replies 'you can't say that Tony' 'Why not Bill it's true.'

:D i never saw that. sounds like he's taken an exerpt straight out of the 12th man or something.

its a pretty shocking thing to say. if you were her family youd feel pretty crushed. he got suspended for that didnt he?

I never heard that before...I can just imagine Bill replying to that. That would have been a classic moment. :D
 
Tony Greig was commentating the Zim v SL game last night and reminded us what a thick head he is.A Sri Lankan misfielded near the boundary and Jayasuria looked rather peeved at his team mate.Tony comes out with the line "if daggers could kill". :confused: About 30 seconds later he says "I should say,if looks could kill" . :o
