I have read a lot of crap about players being drafted to clubs & being 'ripped out of their homes" etc.

Sure there are a lot of immature teenagers out there who miss their mums (except when they are down at the pub or with their girlfriends), but all these suggested strategies to change the draft to accommodate more players being left at home seem daft. Firstly out of the total number how many actually have a terrible problem? probably only a handful. Secondly people who propose these "solutions" are assuming they all come from a capital city that has an AFL team which is not the case. Thirdly assumimg they do come from such a capital city, there is a strong possibility that the club will not want that player anyway.

Lets face it - thouands & thousands of teenagers leave home each year to uni & survive on paltry goverment handouts & student loans etc. No hand wringing there!

I know settling in needs careful management - but leaving players at "home" is not a solution.
