Im not reall happy because we only drew with Blackburn, but gee Newcastle what a team of wasted talent at the moment, the way they are going they didn't deserve to play CL Football.

All sides have their bad patches of form...we'll be back with it soon enough. Not looking like a side contesting for European positions at the minute but we are only 2 weeks into the season.

Same as last season when we only beat West Ham in the first 5 games or so and we still managed to finish 3rd.

Im not a fan of Shola next to Alan Shearer as we need someone in the Bellamy role alongside him and we also need to play players in their preferred position as Viana aint a winger so play Robert out there and place Viana in the centre of midfield IMO.

Beaten by a far better team in the mighty Brummagem as well! Great win by Blues, exactly what our performance deserved. Wish Dunn would've put the penalty away first time though, a heart stopper for a second there!

Best part of the game was the ref flooring Robbie Savage with an elbow to the head. I fear for Newcastle post Shearer, they better win something soon.

Christ anyone would think we've just come off a series of 5-0 hidings... so far this season:

We owned the game with Leeds at Elland Road and should've taken all three points... draw 2-2.

Shaded Partizan in Belgrade 1-0.

Without 9 million pounds worth of Woodgate and 6.5 million pounds worth of Bellamy we went ahead vs Man U in a game they controlled - and lost 1-2 (what's new).

Were admittedly outplayed by Partizan at SJP in one of our worst performances under SBR, lost 0-1.

Owned the game versus Birmingham and conceded a penalty against the run of play, lost 0-1. No Woodgate, no Bellamy again.

Jeez... I fear for the future of not just NUFC, but the planet with results like these.

Great teams win games even when they have injuries. Two injuries isn't exactly a crisis either. Just look at Leeds, we seem to be coping without Paul Okon. :D

Oh really?

Take Viduka and Matteo out of your team and let's see how you go - or how about taking RVN and Ferdinand from United?

Bellamy and Woodgate are our two most important players behind Alan Shearer. Bellamy may not be as prolific as Henry and Woodgate might not be the rock Hyypia is, but as far as our lineup formation and game goes they're vital to our success - without them our performance suffers immeasurably.

Last November, Manchester United had about five first choice players on the injury list. After losing to City, we beat Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle, and Arsenal. Dutchy or DIPPER should be able to clarify this, but I'm pretty sure that one of Arsenal's Championship side had players dropping out through injury through a large chunk of their campaign.

As Paris75 pointed out, "great teams can survive an injury crisis". I think Newcastle and (and I'm sure that Paris75 would be the first to admit) Leeds are not great teams.

Yes thanks for your history refresher course... but my point still stands - key players going down hurt the team badly.

You won those games without a host of first teamers - that's all well and good but you were still at a distinct disadvantage while taking the field without them.

What do you want me to say? We don't struggle without Woody and Bellend?

Good sides should be abel to cover positions ok with depth but at Newcastle we have very little depth. Shola would hardly score goals in Div 1 let alone the Premiership and Bramble is not coming along like i thought so in hindsight we drop away very quickly. Our best Starting line up is as good as anyone in the Premiership but its the lack of depth that kills us.
SBR should have bought a descent CM and another good CB and maybe touch up a bit on the right in defence. I dont think i have seen Man U barely put there first choice side on the park in 12 months bar a few occasions in Europe and some EPL games yet they still dominate the League.
Bobby it is called Depth which we lack badly. Dont play Shola ahead of C.C and Lua Lua hell have him behind MC. Anyone who thinks Griffin is a defender of any quality have no idea, he is a hack.

cheers

Without Viduka we would be in a bit of strife to say the least, I never even remotely suggested Leeds were a great team. And, by the way Matteo missed a number of games last season or played while carrying an injury.

I don't disagree with what you say. What United fan wouldn't prefer Keane, Scholes, and Silvestre to Butt, Fortune, and Phizza Neville on the field? But as Paris75 pointed out, GREAT TEAMS CAN COVER THOSE LOSSES. We covered for the injured players.
