had my top wisdoms taken out because they'd both impacted and had nerves exposed

cost $1200 to get removed and under local. from memory there were 6 injections on either side - was surprised how little it actually hurt to be honest

took a few months for the holes to close up properly. gargling salt water is ****ing horrible

Ice cream ftw.

How was it?

The whole operation wasn't to bad, i was very numbed up though.
The teeth came out very easily as well.
Yesterday the bleeding mouth feeling was shit.
But i just took it easy and slept a fair bit.
Just trying to make sure these blood clots stay in as i don't want Dry Socket!

Ugh yeah the bleeding would be horrible. I was lucky didn't get that at all. The pain was pretty bad tho for 2-3 days.

IIRC, about day 3-4.

When I got my braces on tho I was determined to eat a chicken roll from the deli- straight away afterwards. Think it took me about an hour :D

I ate very carefully for a couple weeks after. the only night I didn't really eat was the first night

if I did eat, I salt rinsed my mouth straight after so I didn't have any rotting food etc

Gotta go to the dentist to get two teeth pulled tomorrow.
One of them is a wisdom tooth that has grown in the wrong way.
The other is a (lower molar) that had a cavity an became infected, been on antibiotics for it.

Anyway anyone had any experience with this an what to expect?
Really dreading it tbh :(

Told this story a few times.

Had to get all 4 removed for the same reason.
Go under , next thing i remember is convulsing on a stretcher.
Had gone into shock in recovery.
Woke up with a sore chest , doc had had to brace his knee on my chest , apparently he got TOO much leverage because he took a chunk of jawbone with him.

My jawline is now crooked , and i resemble THIS kent......

Women look away , babies start crying and Dogs cower from me.

ALL THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!

Also - If you're a smoker - DON'T SMOKE FOR DAYS AFTER

Never fun discovering after a week that the blood you thought you were just swallowing wasn't blood.......

You had an abcess.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Yeah whole mouth felt really gross for most of yesterday, no bleeding now just the blood clots sitting there waiting to heal.

Oh cool, i've had maybe a couple spoonfuls of youghurt since yesterday but that's it.
Need to do a store run and get some soft foods.

Yeah the dentist told me that smoking is the biggest cause of dry socket.
Thankfully i haven't smoked in years

No biggy. You don't feel a thing once the anaesthetic goes in. Had a bottom tooth pulled as a kid. Was growing the wrong way or some shit Nothing to it. There are far greater medical procedures I fear then the dentist.

Had three taken out, all on separate occasions. Local dental surgeon is a bit of a gun; walk in with four hundred bucks, leave soon after with with a footprint on your bleeding and swollen face.

Teeth taken out of the lower jaw hurt more. Or is it the top? Either way, good luck and remember to enjoy yourself!

Going in next week , first time in umm 30 years? Hope dentistry has improved. School dentists really put the phobia into me.

1st wisdom tooth I had out was in a dodgy dentist in the middle of Borneo. Walked in & it didn't look too hygienic but the tooth was growing into the molar & needed to be gone. $25 & didn't get aids. Winrar. :thumbsu:

I had all my wisdoms out under a general and was off work for 2 weeks. They had to dislocate my jaw and one of them had to be chipped out.
Far kennel.
I had all four wisdoms, and another shattered tooth, removed under general and was right three days later. That would have been shocking. I hope you had some good pain killers (by day two i was using mine more as sleeping tablets).

I had a tooth become loose after a collision in football. Waited a few weeks to see how it progressed then when it didn't improve/change I ripped it out with some pliers. Beats paying a dentist to do it.

The roots of one of the teeth was wrapped around a few others, so it was a bit of a fiddly op, involving jaw dislocation.

Seriously WTF? Is this a normal thing? Do they tell you they are going to dislocate your jaw before they knock you out? I'd rather not know that beforehand.
