Toovey squibbed it twice

I noticed Sidebottom do it three or four times within the space of about 15 mins in either the 3rd or 4th quarter, was the first time i've ever noticed something poor about his game.

Still young though so it's excusable.

I have seen Sidebottom do this alot over several weeks too. The times Toovey did it last night were disgraceful, though a different effort by him in either situation was certainly not going to change the game result. That would be due to the failure of Malthouse's "structure"

Everytime we lose Toovey is going to be targetted I think. I think the supposed "squibbing" of Toovey and a few others may have a bit to do with something MDC has mentioned in the match review thread. A number of our players in 50/50 contests seem to perfer letting the opposition player make the play and win the ball so they can tackle. It's quiet simply ridiculous and something that needs to be stamped out but Toovey was not alone nor was he the worst on Friday night.

I squibbed it once in my career.

Wish I had of done it more often as I could hardly move by the time I was 22.

I don't believe it!!!! Maybe you where just being "creative" or "trying to make the play" or "conceding the ball to apply better defensive pressure"

It's funny how the defention of some terms are changed for different players in different games.

Disgusted at two of his efforts and if Malthouse didn't pay attention to how this guy reacted under physical pressure on the big stage IN HIS 50TH GAME I'd be pretty surprised.

I really hope Goldsack gets some form going because he is miles ahead of Toovey and a proven finals performer.

Total garbage that Toovey squibs out of tough situations. Did you not see his 11 tackles last week??? He is one of the few players that can actually hold a tackle and make it effective. I would put him in the top handful of players that really puts in every week.

What's with all these squibbing allegations? Might it be that a player sometimes judges that there's nothing to be gained by going in ears first, that there may be some other way of getting the ball.

If the implication is that Toovey is a coward, then is plainly wrong - I've seen him do reckless things and put himself at risk.

I told you all only a week ago that Toovey is Shite.
He is no way in our best 22.

Like i said he gets a lot of the ball but his decion making and disposal against the better sidfes is terrible.

For some unknown reason Malthouse likes him taht's why he has stuck with him............Decisons like this will be Malthouse's undoing.
He keeps persevering with players that always lets us down, like Davis, toovey etc there are better players waiting in the wings that can do the job a lot better.Toovey is not one of them.

I also saw Pendlebury and Wellingham pull out of contests.

Was very un-Collingwood like. I think they were all just very nervous. A few times, the leading forward should have called them back but didn't...which didn't help.

I don't question their courage...usually they would go back. Just symptomatic of how nervous we were all night

I'm just going to quote this for longevity's sake. Comfortably one of the most moronic and reactionary statements made on this board this season. Are you trolling or serious?

Squibbing and winning is one thing, but when you lose and squib and the other team appears to go more courageously at contests, that's when you can expect scrutiny of your squibs. Geelong looked liked winners at half time simply because they had shown more intense attack on the ball. Toovey was not one that I noticed - Didak was the first I saw shirk a contest.

Realism.:thumbsu:

It was the time of the game he squibbed it that was crucial. Eleven points up and an arm wrestle in the third the cats needed a goal. Intead of getting back and intercepting the man or the ball he whiffed, Varcoe mark goal and away they went.
