I've scoured the WWW for player rankings from various media sources heading into the 2025 season, and here is the consolidated list of the Top 20 players in the competition:

Interesting to see how this plays out over the season

I've just collected results up to round 3 and Jack Macrae is on par with Rowell according to my data for players having the most impact on games. I'd say it's relatively closely linked to Supercoach rankings but with some variances.

Seems the top 10 are pretty consistent across various outlets, but then things start to get a bit screwy. Probably not unexpected.

Yeah, I think that would be the case most years, where you have a clear top few, then the next 20 or so come down to personal preference. Primarily positional preference.

I expect Sam Darcy to join Nick and Bont in the universal top 3 in 2026, with Nick and Darcy amongst the top 3 or 4 for the next decade.

His last 5 years he has been the best performed player over the total 5 years.
2 Brownlows a runner up.
A premiership captain, Gary Ayers medal.
3 best and fairests
3 All Australians.

Not sure how all this works given Gulden is 12th and he has not played a game so far and won't play a game for around 3 months.

They were the rankings as at the start of the season.

Accolades does not necessarily equate to relative on-field performance.

For example, he won the Brownlow in 2023, but wasn't considered worthy of an AA jumper.

Kane Cornes really doesnt rate tall defenders (or at least the ones we can see on the list). He has Sam Taylor rated 12 spots lower than anyone else and Harris Andrews 10 lower than anyone else. Pretty clear that he was a big part of Andrews not getting AA last year.

His record is amongst the best in the comp right now, but he's always been around that 5-10th rated. He probably just doesnt have the last bit of explosiveness or uniqueness to push him higher. Hes just too damned consistently good

If he could consistently kick a goal a game, he would be the best player in the competition.

A decent list …. But this early in the season it’s surely influenced by who they’ve played

They have a different system which is not publishes, which measures expectation based on position per 100 min.

This is what it is for the first weeks:
