Freo is gonna beat the eagles, next week we need port to win and/or Carlton to win, and also the lions to win, need 3 upsets to make the top 4

Only need 1 upset. If Port can beat Freo, and Adelaide beat Melbourne, we should get 4th spot (presuming Sydney win) if we beat North Melbourne by enough to keep our % above St. Kilda's.

I've been eyeing off the ladder predictor for ages now thinking if Adelaide beats Melbourne in round 22 we get 4th, but Freo getting up has thrown a spanner into the works. Can't see Port beating Freo, specially at Subi with the form the Dockers have found over the last 2 months. Looks like we'll finish 5th.

At the end of the day, we have done well this year we came from 13th in 2004 and 15th last year with only new kids into the club over the pre season, so if we beat the roos and get 14 wins finish 5th its a good effort!

I disagree. A significant improvement in ladder positions usually means they will build on this and improve even more next year.

Improving ladder position year after year more often then not with most teams, means they miss the opportunity to win the big one. No good improveing and not getting to the top. 2002-2003 then dropping back down for a few years.

Port, Brisbane, Sydney and now Adelaide (to a much lesser extent) didn't just appear there they had a few consistant "ladder improving" seasons before they became contenders over a few years.
In 2001 we went from 16th to 9th and got into the GF the next two years. And it may not be any good getting into the grand final just to drop down the next two years, but it is if you win the bloody thing!

We only have ourselves to blame. A top 4 spot was there for the taking and we lose to a rubbish team like Essendon.

When you see teams like Fremantle probably finishing top 4 it makes you realise that the Premiership was there for the taking.

So unless Port do us a favour then this was a golden opportunity blown.

We've got an edge on St Kilda, We can pass Freo if they lose, the only concern is Sydney. Aderlaide will beat Melbourne, and we'd have ther easier match againest the Crows, from there, we take the kill.

But first, to make ourselves sounded, WE MUST BEAT THE ROOS BY 50+, and If Rocca is back, he has to get 5 goals or more, anything less is unacceptable and we then play the dogs.............

Freo losing to Port is unlikely at best, and the unpredictable nature that we play with lately, a top 4 spot could have meant a chance win and a week off (I know, DERRR!!!)

Carlton will not (want to) win, and even Adelaide aint a lock...

Port to beat Freo would also be handy, as long as we don't end up 7th or 8th and have to travel there for an elim.

There's no way that we'll get THREE of the following:
Adel d Melb
Bris d St K (or Saints win by less than us)
Port d Freo
Carl d Syd

One is likely (Adel d Melb.. but that get less likely each week!) One is possible, but in our hands (Saints win by less than us - because Bris will not win), but the other two are not very likely, even with the spate of upsets going on in the past few weeks.
We hopefully will get two of those, assume to win our match, of course, and finish fifth and play the Dogs in week one.
Then we'd play Syd in Syd in week two, or possibly Adel in Adel....

The only team thats left is Fremantle.

Who knows Freo could go to water 1 week earlier than planned.
