Ok this was a hard decision but this is who I give it to.

5. Looking For AliBrandi (Just snuck in. Could have given this spot to The Dish or Charlie's Angels.)
4. What Lies Beneath (Typical Thriller)
3. Gone In 60 Seconds (This was one top movie)
2. Unbreakable (A must see Movie. If you liked the Sixth Sense you will like Unbreakable)
1. The Replacements (What else can be at number 1 than the Replacements. This movie is a very good comedy and I enjoyed it. Gone In Sixty Seconds and Unbreakable were close to this spot.)

What are your thoughts on the top 5 Movies.

Being a fan mainly only of aussie and kiwi flicks, I haven't seen any of SpecialBruce's mentions except for Alibrandi, which was good, but not great.

I won't be seeing the Dish until probably next year. Same goes for Bootmen and Innocence.

I will be seeing non-downunderflick Vertical Limit tonight (hopefully) because (a) my missus' daughter is on the crew and we want to see her name in the credits, and (b) it has some aussies and kiwis among the cast, including Ben Mendehlson and Temuera Morrison.

I liked the Wog Boy slightly better than Alibrandi, but once again it wasn't too special. Innocence and The Dish both promise to be better.

The only non-downunder flick that I can say I enjoyed at the theatre was 'The Insider'. Gladiator was a grouse production but was too cheesy in my eyes to get a guernsey.

Seeing I'm on the Brisbane board here, I should mention that I watched 'Garbo' again last night. This consistently features Fitzroy guernseys and beanies on the characters. The movie is silly, but quite funny, basically a vehicle for Los Trios Ringbarkus, who act the same in Garbo as they would in one of their stand-ups.

I tried really hard to enjoy U-571 because I love a good war movie but its shameless re-writing of history was more than I could stomach.

In spite of its high production values, attention to detail and solid acting I actually walked out of this one.

Sorry to sound like a pompous git but I take History very seriously and this one was a shocker !

My five fav for 2000 are:

5. - Gladiator
4. - Romance (The sick, perverted French Film)
3. - Charlie's Angels
2. - The Dish
1. - Rear Window (Remastered) - To see one of my all time favourite films on the big screen was sensational.

Worst Film
Most of the crap spewing out of Hollywood, but in particular Mission to Mars and U-571.
