Haha, have you seen Ablett?

Top 5 for the Swans so far this year.

1. Josh Kennedy (2nd best in the comp so far imo)
2. Lewis Jetta
3. Ted Richards
4. Nick Malceski
5. Kieren Jack

Wouldn't have Jack in the top 50 and the other 3 are borderline. Kennedy is way out in front atm.

How was Richards this week? Really impressed with him first two weeks.
Typical Goodes, starts the year slowly.
Will probably include the top 3 and leave Malceski and Jack in the unluckies.

Maric was average, probably drops off the unluckies. Deledio agree isn't top 50. I think Cotchin holds his spot and Rance moves up a few, but that's just me. I reckon he's been very very impressive. Easily our second best so far.

Great battle with Clark.
I agre with you.
The difference between Rance and Cotchin is quite small at the moment.

1. Gary Ablett
2. Josh Kennedy
3. Scott Selwood
4. Andrew Carrazzo
5. Aaron Sandilands
6. Paddy Ryder
7. Marc Murphy
8. Brendan Goddard
9. Scott Thompson
10. Jobe Watson

with Selwood, Bartel and Hawkins still able to fall into the top ten (athough none of them are dominating at the moment - 7 mins into 3rd quarter).

What are peoples thoughts?

All our defenders were a bit shite but Richards was the best imo. Took Schulz and held him well.

I'd have Goodes as our 6th-8th best. Quiet by his standards but he has still been ok the last two weeks. Especially when the game has been in the balance.

Has Sandilands actually been that good? Overrated start to the season imo, rest of the top 10 looks good off the top of my head.

Franklin was really good today. Spent almost half the game in the middle. 24 touches, 8 marks, 5 tackles and 3 goals. Was listed in the best 3 on the AFL website and I thought he was our 2nd best.

He was amazing in the ruck this week. 54 HOs.
This would be helped in large by Leuenberger going down and he beat up on Billy Longer.
Will consider carefully.
Where do you think he should land?
10-20?
Who else should be in the top 10, do you think?

Will be judged accordingly.
Does about 20th for 2nd BOG and a great game against Collingwood sound fair?

From Geel v. NM:
Harvey - awesome - well into the fifty now.
Bastinac - established himself against great opposition. Probably has to fall in the middle part of the fifty now.
What are peoples thoughts on Wells', Anthony's and Swallow's games?

Selwood - good game but felt he did it after Roos got the jump. Around 10-15 still.
Hawkins - ditto. 25-30.
Bartel - thoughts?
Kelly - beaten by Ziebell.

Who else played well in this game?

West Coast v. GWS
:
Scooter was great as mentioned above.
Shuey BOG with his five goals. Will come into the fifty.
Gaff and Masten very close. One will probably come in.
Schofield stays in and goes slightly higher for mind.
Kennedy drops out.
Ward jumps into 35-40.
Cornes interesting dual with Lynch. Really the only tall forward to dominate. Will have to re-watch to determine how I think Cornes played.
Hurn, meh, think I'll move him to the unluckies.
Cox, not enough yet to get into the top 50. Naitanui has really taken the reigns this year.
Pretty good summary. Not going to attempt a full top 50, I'll leave that to you experts. But for the Eagles I think our best 10 players this year have been:

Selwood
Masten
Shuey
Naitanui
Schofield
Hurn
Priddis
Cox
Gaff
Rosa

Roughly in that order.

Not bad. I think you are underrating Schofield (slightly) and Gaff. Not sure Cox has done enough to be ahead of Gaff.

How would the brownlow be looking ATM? I reckon something like this...

8-9 Kennedy
7-8 Ablett
6-7 S Selwood

Possibly.
Ablett probably leading with 7 votes.
Beltings will hurt potential votes.
For instance Ablett tore it up against StKilda but the team lost by 92 points.
With a smashing like that it is hard to see the umpires give him anything but minor votes.

As AG said hard to gauge Kennedy.
Also be careful rating Selwood that high.
The umps have no history with giving him votes.
He has not been clear-cut BOG in any of the games just potentially vote-worthy.
Would be very unlucky to miss BOG in round 2 but could miss votes this week:
Umps could vote
3. L. Shuey
2. C. Masten
1. A. Gaff
and could miss votes week 1. Umps could vote:
3. J. Kennedy
2. M. Priddis
1. M. Boyd (yes, I know that it is ludicrous)
I believe Selwood will be on about 5 votes ATM.

Thompson, Murphy, Judd, Pendlebury, Stanton and a couple others would be about 5-6 votes so still in the leaders pack.

But this has nothing to do with their rankings on this list.

Watched the replay this morning and Richards was better than I originally thought. So combined with his very good first two rounds then I'd have him as our second best player so far this season and one of the better KPD's so far as well. Probably early 30's on your list? Not too sure.

Crazy how he has elevated himself as one of the better defenders over the past 18 months.

Jetta maybe in the late 40's but doesn't really matter at this early stage.

Hi guys,

Here's round 3 update for you.
Keep the suggestions coming.

Looks good but I'd have the four defenders Fisher, Carlisle, Chaplin and Surjan in there somewhere. The Port trio have impressed me a fair bit so far this season. All three have had good seasons before but they all clicking so far this year.

I wouldn't list Dale Thomas in the unluckies, apart from 10 good minutes against Richmond he's been pretty crap :(

Good effort so far. Would probably still rate Murphy ahead of Carazzo but I'm not a huge fan of taggers being so highly rated I guess.

Mitch Clark probably deserves to be an unlucky, I think he's been pretty good so far.

Bit harsh on Fyfe he misses a game and goes from 7th to out

Sorry.
I umm'd and ahh'd about what to do with the players missing a week.
Eventually I decided that because it was week 3 they had missed 33% of the season thus far.
This is more of a temporary number and players like Fyfe/Priddis will quickly bounce into the top 25 once they start playing again.
If it had been week 12 and he was 7th or even week 6 he'd certainly still be in.
Let this not be a reflection upon him.
I repeat, if he comes back and has a good game I will place him appropriately.

Will watch these players closely this week.
Where do you believe they should fall?

Had a whole list of criticisms written out about your rd 2 effort, but that looks about right to me. :thumbsu:

I wouldn't have Monfries as high up as "unlucky", he's been too wasteful with the ball (Hibberd & Fletcher have been better IMHO), nor would I have Boyd or Masten up *quite* as high as they are, for similar reasons - but I think your 50 is about right.

IMHO a few of the younger guys in there, who've torn up v GC/GWS will drop down/out, as the year goes on. Right now I think those games have thrown things a little bit out of whack - but that'll right itself soon enough.

I've liked Leroy's start to the year and was pretty good last year from memory. Both Jetta's are on fire so far in 2012.
Neville "Neville" Jetta cries, alone.
